Pros
Konica Minolta provides good training.
Cons
Beware of political opinions at branch offices.
Advice to Senior Management
Think things through before implementing changes. Sometimes a perceived cost savings creates unforeseen expenses / issues elsewhere.
Pros
The one redeeming quality of working at this company is that you get the experience of working outside on your own.
Cons
The management in this office when I was there was nonexistent. Do not take a job here if you need a strong management team. If you are looking to cut your teeth in a sales job where you learn to handle rejection on a daily basis....this is the place for you.
Advice to Senior Management
Learn to manage a company.
Pros
Freedom, high commission, expense account, quality training.
Cons
Micro Management, loss of job freedom, half of commission taken.
Advice to Senior Management
Give employees more freedom.
Pros
Job stability. Close in proximatey to nortern N.J. and major roads. Avg. health & retirement benefits
Cons
Very low paying company overall. 30 minute lunch! Lack of ownership & accountability. Poor communication from internal management. Works generally feel grossly undperpaid for work being accomplished. Lack of company wide bonus plan. Annual raises avg (about 3%). Haven't gotten formal written review in 2 years. Cafeteria is small, pricely, poor variety, avg food quality.
Advice to Senior Management
Major overall needed through entire organization. Better treatment of employees. Not horrible now, but not great either. Need bonus plan based on performance (company & employee).Increase lunch to at least 45 minutes (Used to be 60 minutes, reduced to current 30 minutes). Everyone feels extremely rushed every day.
Pros
Learn new technologies
Meet new customers and grow your contact list <--- use this to your advantage you will quit soon!
Communicate with other staff to solve problems
Cons
Long hours
They trick you into a salary <-- that way they can work you 18 hours, and pay no overtime
Management use a computer system to manage and the more you do, the more work they expect
If you want to last become a staff hog at a site, otherwise you get a target on your back
Tell no one anything just keep to yourself <--- and you will last at least 1 year
Advice to Senior Management
I will be pressing charges on stealing money from my check.
I will be providing proof about how you are abusing labor laws to accomplish illegal goals.
Pay everyone who has been shorted money, or suffer the class action law suit.
Do not force everyone to take part of your 401k it is illegal.
Allcovered was a bad investment!
Pros
Company benefits.
Fellow employees are high caliber.
Sales rep territories are defined, unlike a dealer.
Great products. Industry leading technology.
Cons
Quotas are not fairly assigned. New sales reps are always "great.". After about 6 to 12 months with Konica Minolta, everybody is considered a failure because no one can achieve their quota. There are too many sales reps in Tampa Bay to allow any of them to earn a living or be successful.
Advice to Senior Management
Set rep quotas based on facts, not hopes.
Pros
Good color and monochrome products.
Vast collection of resources related to products although they need to clean it up and remove the discontinued ones.
Cons
Lack of direction from management.
Terrible training program, "put you to sleep webinars" and no hands-on.
Sales reps have to do the training for all customers except production print.
Dealers constantly able to undercut prices unless you are willing to sell at a level that earns you almost nothing.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat people with respect and recognize that in order to make quota it takes teamwork and leadership, not threats and humiliation.
Pros
+ I believe that Konica Minolta has the best product in the industry by far
+ The online resources for training were great
+ The support from the application/production print specialist was great as they are very knowledgeable
+ Very considerate of family and personal time and matters
+ Flexibility in schedule
Cons
+ You could never get straight answers about customer issues or concerns
+ Follow up from management and the administrative staff was like pulling teeth
+ They appointed people to positions of management or higher who were not qualified...taking care of friends.
+ The commission plan was not one that rewarded hard work.
+ The goals set in the commission plans are not realistic
Advice to Senior Management
I would suggest that you take a good look at that branch and evaluate a few things...your sales professionals, the administrative staff, the management team and strongly consider doing what everyone else in business is doing...more with less. By the way...verticals won't work if you can't clearly define an account/target list and hold people responsible for their actions. Thank you for your time KM :)
Pros
Make good friends with the people you work with.
Cons
Management can be incompetent at times.
Pros
+schedule flexibility
+able to make adequate compensation if you are willing to work hard
+people! I have met some of my closest friends in the last few years
Cons
+every day is a new day.
+management does not seem like they care about employees as individuals
+no chance for advancement
+ commission has been cut and it makes employees feel undervalued for working hard.
Advice to Senior Management
threatening salespeople is NOT motivating! the best motivator is positive reinforcement and help to find better ways to be successful. numbers do not always reflect the amount of work and if they are not where they should be then there needs to be an evaluation of the ENTIRE sales cycle, not just the sales portion
