Current Employee – been working at Kool Smiles full-time for more than 7 years

Pros – I've worked at various companies throughout the years, software, travel, training, technology, professional services, etc. Most of the time your company is in a business that is providing a product or service but that product or service is not assisting in helping improve the lives of others. However, if you work at Kool Smiles you know your Company is providing a service that helps communities throughout the US. The access to dental care in a lot of the communities that KS serves is minimal or non-existant for those that need it the most. I've seen the lives that this Company has touched and to be able to work with an organization like that is fulfilling.

Cons – Working here is not like working in an "ordinary" dental clinic. It can be difficult at times but the good things in life don't come easy. If you believe in the values of the Company, and believe you are serving the greater good, the pros outweigh the cons that you may have to encounter on a day to day basis.

Advice to Senior Management – Keep improving and expand, expand, expand.

Pros – fun co-workers and that's about it!

Cons – Unreasonable work expectations, long LONG hours. Forced to work through lunches almost DAILY, never get out on time. Have to stay at least an hour late every evening. Have to do required trainings OFF the clock. NEVER get breaks.CRAZY workload!!!

Advice to Senior Management – Quit recruiting Wal-Mart Employees as office managers. They're CLUELESS about running a dental office!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cons – Executive micromanagement.
Low salaries with unattainable bonus structure.
Company does not back employees and allows patients to walk all over them.
Classism in workplace based on titles

Advice to Senior Management – Respect the management you put in place.
You get what you pay for and your patient base will reflect.

Pros – Loved working with the children and families. Staff mostly got along. Free coffee.

Cons – Did not have consistent management. Some of the higher paid employees were abusive to the lesser paid hourly staff and not much was done about it.

Pros – The local offices were great. I enjoyed working with the dentists, office staff, and managers everyday. The work is really meaningful.

Cons – Corporate was rarely helpful. They always pushed numbers, but wanted it to be about the patient experience. I was getting directives from across the country instead of the manager who was in my office. The call center is terrible.

Advice to Senior Management – Give more power back to management. The call center needs to go, it makes customers mad all the time. I spent more time apologizing for the call center then I did anything else for the company.

Pros – If my job at Kool Smiles wasn't so rewarding, I would never be so motivated to work this hard. In the last year, this company has really listened to patients and employees and is making successful strides for constant improvement. I am thankful that I am part of company that does the right thing, even when no one is looking!

Cons – Morale has lacked in the past but now with the right leaders in place, I think the problem has turned around & will only improve. It is unfortunate a few bad people are trying to tarnish the Kool Smiles name recently but those people should beware - that is only going to make our family work harder to prove you wrong!

Advice to Senior Management – Please lose the last few in corporate management that don't have our great mission in their hearts, despite how enticing their resumes may seem. KS will go even further with those "leaders" left behind.

Pros – You get to work with kids!! The pay and benefits are really good. I like working with lots of different kinds of people. The place is nice and clean.

Cons – The Dentists and RDH's do not have any control over their schedule, so sometimes it is way too many patients to handle.

Advice to Senior Management – Even if you have not ever worked in dental before, treat all staff just like you want to be treated. You can not overload the schedule to make your goals and forget that real humans work here and can not always work through lunch and stay late. We all have families and a life outside of work.

Pros – Obvious commitment to providing the best quality care to the individuals in most need of dental care.
Supportive environment to work in throughout every department.
Obvious commitment to providing a safe, courteous and fun work atmosphere that in turn, produces a very high morale among the employees.

Cons – Honestly, I have only worked here about 3 months but have not seen anything that I would consider a "con". I have only positive things to say about Kool Smiles and its mission.

Advice to Senior Management – Keep on trying to make us go from "Good" to "Great! and Smile On...

Pros – Koolsmiles has been my home for many years. They provide opportunity, more than fair pay and make me feel good about what I do. I have never worked for a company with such genuine concern for safety, compliance and the well being of their customers. I am more than proud to tell people what I am a part of and how we strive to help families.

Cons – Some 'individuals' exist that are not properly aligned with the overall mission of the company.

Pros – Kool Smiles is a awesome place to work! We have a strong leadership team who beleives in the Misison and the Dream. The qualilty care we provide to our patients each and every day in our offices is truly amazing. Working in the clinics with the team and getting the high 5's and hugs from the patients is the best reward!

Cons – I do not have a downside.
