    I worked at Kroger

    Pros

A job when you really need one.

    Cons

Not at all a living wage. Can be a supplemental income but will not allow you to support yourself or your family. (thank you, union!)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Learn to manage.
Stop managing by avoidance and learn to deal with conflict and employees who under perform.
Yes, it is hard to motivate people when they are paid little, but it is a worse situation when you have employees who are trying see those who are slacking get away with it even after it is pointed out and validated.
Deal with the slackers and the good people will step up for you.

I am a former employee who shops at the same store where I worked.
Employees come to me to comment and complain about issues in the store and I have been off the payroll for quite a long time.

I know the stores are busy. I understand the stores are understaffed. Address issues as they arise and don't let them sit.

The Kroger Company would do well to figure out how to increase wages (take a cue from Wal-Mart) and pay just a bit more. That would help morale as well as help you attract and retain workers.
