    Pros

Great benefits, including fsa account, 401k matching, health, vision, dental. Not as hectic as other retail. Not all have a drive thru. In a grocery setting

    Cons

Unionized hard to het rid of bad techs, unsteady hours and schedules. Work evenings and weekends. Lot of corporate tasks but no time to complete. Schedules are forecasted from year before as well as hours allowed to schedule techs. Very unreasonable.

    Advice to Management

More help will be beneficial, able to have a set way to hire and fire techs. More hours to schedule techs, not to use forecast for scheduling, may be a guide but not set for hours . Treat pharmacist with more appreciation

    Pros

Because we are in the people business and we come in contact with so many different individuals, you will meet some great personalities (coworkers, employees, customers, vendors, etc.) who may become your friends forever.

    Cons

Not a good retail company to be working for in a management role. Upper management in the Houston KMA lead a life of lies and backstabbing and are only out for themselves. They have the "what can I say or do mentality" to protect themselves and move further up the corporate ladder regardless of who they have to screw over to get there. When it comes to work/life balance, they will stand in front of the crowd and preach one thing, but reality is totally different. It all comes down to what can I find wrong in the stores this week to keep the pressure on and make the store managers liable, guilty and get them to come in on their days off to fix the issues. Be warned: 65 to 80 hour work weeks are the norm. Trust me, every store has issues, report cards, metrics, shrink, OT, OOSs, complaints or something negative that the DM or higher will hold over your head to apply the pressure. I've been a SM for many years with this company and have seen a lot of DMs come and go and the current group here in our KMA are just about all of the same because of the direction that upper management have formed them to become. There are so many other companies offering retail management experience out there that I would advise anyone considering Kroger to stay away. Don't get involved , waste your precious time only to be sadly disappointed a few years from now when the dust settles and you've discovered what a sad situation you've got brainwashed into coming to work for.

    Advice to Management

Re-evaluate what you've got going on in the SW KMA. I cannot speak for any other marketing areas, but what's happening here is not good for morale, employees, customers, stock holders or the company in general. Out with the old and lets get some new leadership in here that knows how to treat people and who believe in the mission statement of the company.
