I worked at Kroger Limited Partnership

    Pros

Training was very good. Take advantage of their training program then, go somewhere else. Trust me. Treated very good in the beginning.

    Cons

Benefits not that great. Pay is terrible as an assistent mgr. 401k unless you work for more than 7yrs Kroger will take a portion of the 401k back along with any stock options.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Unless you are related or play golf with the zone manager you will be placed in a dirty store that will never make a bonus. The pay as an assistent mgr is terrible. Forget the bonus, you'll never see it. While you busting your but the Store mgr makes about 3x than the assistent. Take the expierence and go somewhere else

    Pros

Opportunities for advancement are good if you apply yourself and are willing to work at the bottom of the totum pole for years.

    Cons

You sometimes get to work for undesireable people that have learned their skills somewhere different than the rest of us. We are suppoesed to be a team not a communist community.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Every person is different, meaning everyone learns different also which means your particular ways of teaching doesn't always work with everyone so you should learn to adapt to the people then everyone can work in harmony and productivity will soar.

I worked at Kroger Limited Partnership full-time

    Pros

As a college graduate Kroger gave me the training to perform the entry level management role. They also gave me many opportunities to continue my growth within the company. I was in many roles - operations, merchandising and administration in my career. This company taught me a tremendous amount and prepared me well for my current role.

    Cons

In 2012 there was a movement to consolidate the operation to Ohio, without a move to Ohio your career choices become a little more limited.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be careful of tying promote-ability to mobility as a blanket statement that applies to all.

I worked at Kroger Limited Partnership full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Inside work so you are out of any damaging weather unless you're a bag boy.

    Cons

Extreme Micro managers in top and mid levels, Company totally consumed with numbers and data, attempting to robotize the work force, low morale amongst hourly employees, extreme diversity and double standards

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit consolidating- there are way too many layers of mgmt at G.O.- store employees are just another number to them

I have been working at Kroger Limited Partnership

    Pros

    Upward mobility
    Good benefits
    Flexible
Good at engaging associates and customers
    Paid time off and vacation

    Cons

    Union
    Pay
    work life balance
Good management training, poor associate training

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the union! Pay people more. Promote people based on merit, not seniority. Give more training to associates. Many have little to no clue how to do their jobs properly. Profit sharing would be a nice perk too.
