    Pros

The pay is great if you have a lot of experience in the department that you will be working in. If you don't have experience, they will start you out at minimum wage no matter what. No negotiations.

    Cons

I work with a lot of high school and college students, which makes it very stressful. They are often lazy or don't even show up to work. We don't ever have enough help in our department, although I hope that's not the case at every store

    Advice to Management

I think management needs to allow more overtime for everyone if they don't have enough people in the department. The work needs to be done by someone and plenty of people are willing to work overtime.

I have been working at Kroger (Less than a year)

    Pros

If you're in the union, certain rights are protected.
There are employee rewards: 10% off Kroger brand items, occasional fuel rewards (i.e. double fuel points, 1000 free points, being able to participate in surveys for the same 50 fuel pts. weekly that customers earn, etc.)

    Cons

Supervisors get more responsibility for the same pay.
Customer service/guest care clerks get the same pay.

    Advice to Management

There should be more in depth training, perhaps without a computer (i.e. coupons, recognizing fraud)
More responsibility should mean more pay.
Stores should not be hiring as long as part-time workers are in need of full time hours.

    Pros

    - Kroger has great management and is usually appreciative of a good work ethic.
    - Benefits also seemed to be pretty decent if you stayed long enough.

    Cons

    - The Union does more harm than good. You're rewarded based upon how long you've worked as opposed to how hard you work.
    - Their wages are low and work loads are high.
    - They're very strict to avoid paying overtime even when it's needed with the exception of holidays.

    Advice to Management

I actually like the way management operates. However you need to keep the good workers around even if it means that they want to change departments.

    Pros

The company has good core values and integrity. Delivers bottom line results consistently. Provides value to the customer without sacrificing quality.

    Cons

Lower pay and heavy work load. Annual travel far exceeds the rate promised. The balance between work and life is becoming more work and less life.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to the feedback

    Pros

Great hours, managers are nice and accommodating

    Cons

Short breaks, long hours, and can be a little unorganized. Some shift managers have bad attitudes

    Advice to Management

Hire Shift managers that aren't the same age as your cashiers, people will respect them more
