I have been working at Kroll Ontrack full-time

    Pros

Yes, there have been some changes in the company, but, as we all know, that is sometimes necessary. I am thrilled about the new management on board and cannot wait to work with them and help them implement positive change and growth. New and experienced consultants, managers and long-time industry professionals are manning the KO helm.

My fellow KO employees are intelligent, driven, and passionate about their jobs, working with the understanding that the data solutions we implement help so many companies and individuals continue their work so our clients can focus on the things that really matter.

    Cons

I don't have any cons to speak of right now.

    Pros

Strong team environment, competitive salary, industry leader. Well respected in the legal technology space and known as the go-to vendor for large scale litigation and investigations.

    Cons

Currently owned by private equity, lots of leadership changes and re-orgs. It's still an industry leader, but position is being challenged by players who can be a little bit more flexible and innovative when it comes to both price and technology.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clear strategic vision that is in line with the legal technology market - services are important, not just technology.

    Pros

Work/Life balance is second to none, compensation is more than fair.

    Cons

Change appears to occur for change's sake. New products are offered and processed without adequate preparations behind the scenes.

    Pros

Small company makes it easy to move up the leadership chain.
Amount of vacation time is phenomenal.

    Cons

    Good old boys club.
Leadership is constantly changing at all levels of organization.
Employees run in circles to implement changes and before they are finished the next round of changes come. Leads to zero efficiency, zero productivity, and zero morale.
Too many ownership changes have diluted the business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire leadership with proven talent and experience. Set a plan for the company and stick to it long-term! Let the businesses/operations run autonomously as they were doing while they were profitable. Combing businesses and functions to shared service centers does not produce quality results or cost savings when each business line is completely different!

    Pros

Dedicated employees, good technologies, values and compensation.

    Cons

Tremendous competition and commoditization in the industry have hit the company hard. Does not seem to have the products and services the industry now demands. Large scale divestiture from solutions and product lines. Instability. Lack of leadership as senior and regional managers depart and are replaced by those with no industry experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

What management? In 2014 everyone from the CEO to VPs, regional managers and a high percent of the sales force have left the company--

I have been working at Kroll Ontrack full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible work-life balance. Decent base salary.

    Cons

Lack of transparency, no confidence leadership understands what needs to be done to win; secrecy around who leaves, no communication around departures despite there being so many it has become a distraction. Product Development is too far behind today's market to catch up, many contributors too blinded by legacy Kroll Ontrack to even understand they were passed by competing products that can now offer everything KO can provide. Lack of true understanding of sales development, no marketing accountability drive sales efforts, tying back to a perceived notion that Kroll Ontrack is a gold standard and doesn't need to do such things I combination with a disconnect between marketing the business sales results. Sales management lacks the right combination of sales and industry experience - all seem to have a lot of one or the other but not both so miss finding the right combination that will allow sales people to be successful. Client services are required to do too many things manually, inefficient and outdated processes and workflow internally - the employees seem to be more intelligent on average than most work places but being overworked to compensate for a lack of technology capability and vision. All are fixable business problems but the approach has appeared to be to just hire and fire until you find a solution with little direction or purpose as if there isn't enough time to do things the right way. The obvious panic/short term outlook in nearly all projected activities/solutions is creating a very negative work environment. Cant blame it on CEO, issues were/are bigger than one person or one leader.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not sure there is anything that can correct the path the organization is now on - advice would be to be more transparent with employees with what is going on, what must be done, etc. The least they could do.

    Pros

I have a hard time finding a pro to put down for this section.

    Cons

Commission rate is low. Clients have little need for our product in this demographic. Marketing not driving inbound business. New commission plan rewards current business, and drops the rates for new business. As a business development rep, that isn't Ok.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Making a rest change was good for the AE's. Others, not so much.

    Pros

Only pro is work life balance which the company is definitely above average with.

    Cons

Little incentive to go above and beyond (lack of bonus for most minimal pay raises, limited growth opportunity).
Lack of direction and company prioritization
Attempting to do to much with to little
    Benefits are horrible

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pick the tops items you want to do and focus money and staff on those. Stop spending resources on things that aren't a top priority.
