ProsFriendly, supportive and well paid for the region. Excellent pension. Good christmas and summer parties with all expenses paid. The company is happy to spend money on resources such as text books. Free tea, coffee, cakes, biscuits and weekly deliveries of fruit.

ConsCommunication from senior management to other staff members is limited. Employees don't generally know what they are going to be doing more than 2-4 weeks in advance. There is a three month notice period. The IT department is unhelpful and can be a serious bottleneck when it comes to support. Individual goals are not set for employees. There seems to be frequent emphasis on working evenings and weekends with non consistent reward for doing so.

Advice to Senior ManagementTell staff what is going on more reguarly. Let staff know what future plans are further in advance.

ProsInnovative industries are it's focus. Some brilliant people. A good percentage of their products are industry leading. A long storied history of technical innovation.

ConsUnable to grasp longer term trends. Does not invest in it's various divisions. Does not invest in it's people. It was very quick to embrace USA employment advantages (i.e. no 'European' benefits for the Americans). They are no longer truly innovative. They have a very serious case of innovators dilemma (unable to destroy their existing/dying business to replace it with what's competitors are coming at them with from the outside). A dying company.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake more chances. Invest more in your future and less in maintaining just the present.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
