I have been working at Kutztown University part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I like the fact there are many opportunities to find a job on campus and in the surrounding area!

    Cons

Great options when it comes to working for the university. Integrating a hybrid-style program to allow students find entry-level jobs through the University would be beneficial.

I worked at Kutztown University as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Faculty autonomy is good. Technology in the classroom was consistent across rooms. LMS system was adequate.

    Cons

Adjunct pay is poor. Tenure system stifled current ness and preserves old school experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ditch tenure. Let people with recent actual experience teach.

I worked at Kutztown University part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Had 3 different positions with 3 different departments on campus, all were flexible and willing to work with schedules as a student, all positions provided oppurtunities to get more involved on campus and meet new people as well as make a little extra cash.

    Cons

While there is a decent amount of on campus student employment, it is very competitive, can be difficult to get more hours first starting out, and opportunities greatly vary based on your major.

    I worked at Kutztown University

    Pros

Upper and middle management appreciates you, have great benefits through the state, can eat and walk on campus, students can be fun and challenging to work with.

    Cons

Being part of a union kind of locks you into your position and makes advancement hard.

I have been working at Kutztown University

    Pros

    decent benefits
    OK pay
most people are nice to work with
    moderately reasonable cost of living
    nice students
facilities are, for the most part, ok

    Cons

as a public employee you are always operating under the uncertainties of the ideological whims of the politicians in Harrisburg. Republicans don't believe in funding public higher education, and Democrats don't believe that students should pay tuition. We get caught in the resource squeeze.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The problem is that top management serves at the pleasure of their overlords in Harrisburg; so if they were to speak up and speak truth to power, they would be out in the street -- so it goes.....
