I have been working at Kwik Trip

    Pros

Bonus check at the end of the year and the package associated with that is one of the best I have ever had.
Co-Workers are nice for the most part.
People interaction (if you are a people person)
CEO and highest management is stellar.

    Cons

Bosses have the potential to take job too seriously.
Management may say one thing and do another. i.e. letting you believe there are opportunities when they have no intention of allowing advancement.
Middle management needs work and acts as an exclusive club. Not inviting to co-workers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No advice needed for Zone Leaders and up.
District leaders and store leaders need to be more considerate of the co-workers. Not a blanket statement, but there are a few who could use some help not being intentionally disrespectful to co-workers.

    Pros

good benefits, good place to work for old people, flexible schedule, good management, good training, it is better than seating at home and collecting gov. benefits

    Cons

job is in jeneral not motivating, robot tasks, do every day same things like factory job but at factory you get payd dubled the kwik trip salary.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

keep up good work on benefits and profit sharing, company in jeneral going in the right direction, you have a lot of very smart future leaders working in the stores - set up development program for those people.

    Pros

For a retail job, pay is fairly high.
Raises are nothing to shout about but you do get a bonus check at the end of the year that is appreciated, especially since you get it around the holidays and need a little extra spending money.
You work with a decent amount of employees, so if you are sick, finding a replacement isn't quite as hectic.
The employees are fun to be around and make work less miserable.

    Cons

Constantly cleaning up after people, be it customers or employees. It's part of the job but it's still fairly annoying.
The occasional customer, who is always "right", feels that it's "right" to yell at you about something that is completely out of your control.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Avoid long conversations in the back office. They may be relative to the company but do not sustain priority over other functions that need attention.

    Pros

People are nice and job security is good since the company is still making money. But that is about all I can say that is good.

    Cons

Worked at corporate for 4 years and 1 year at retail. Departments do not work well together, no communication. Salaried employees are expected to work 50+ hours even though they are salaried at 40-45 hours. The benefits are not good, everyone says the 40% profit sharing is so good, the bonus checks don't amount to a substantial amount of money. I would rather get paid more during the year and forget about the bonus. The amount of vacation you get is really low.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Realize not all people are married to there job and don't want to work 24/7. Update the benefits package and give people some vacation instead of making them work a year to get 5 days of vacation.

A smaller version of Wal-Mart. One bottom line, and that doesn't include employees.

    Pros

Average pay, nice year-end bonus, paid vacation for part-time employees

    Cons

Very poor management team, especially at the retail level. You are expected to do almost anything at the store level with little or no training (including fixing machines, knowing policy). Also, they will want you to work almost every weekend, and will not honor your days off if you are needed. You will work very hard, and only be compensated marginally (and receive only one break per shift). The company talks up their large benefit package, however, the costs of many of the benefits (for example, health insurance) are phenomenally high.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This advice is to the CEO: When addressing your employees at a year-end meeting, please don't discuss politics. This year, you mentioned the new health care bill and how it will affect your company. First off, we don't care, you are a multi-millionaire, and frankly, you should be providing better health care for your hard-working employees. You then proceeded to convey that employees should vote in your favor. Shame on you.

Also to the CEO and/or marketing: you focus on food...food, food, food. It is the wave of the future, isn't it? Well, first of all, your food is terrible. Second, cutting your prices back may boost your sales temporarily. However, over time, your customers will simply wait for the sales. Good luck with boosting those food sales, I see a downward decline.

    Pros

Decent pay with awesome year end bonus. You have room for growth if you want to move up and they do an awesome job hiring the right people for the company.

    Cons

Management at the retail level expect too much at times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take more advice and listen to employees at the store level for feedback and ways to help improve the customer's experience.

    Pros

Provided stable employment, coworkers were great

    Cons

Didn't seem to care about coworkers, were always changing or taking away priviledges such as breaks, changed work schedules frequently with little notice, if you complained you were told that you could find another job if you didn't like it

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

treat co-workers as people, not puppets, co-workers are not just complaining when they offer suggestions for improvements in the workplace

    Pros

For a job while in school it is great. The pay is pretty good compared to other places that you could be working at.

    Cons

It does not prepare you with a lot of experience for what most people would want to do after school.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look to retain talent that is in school. Look to bring them on as interns or new hires out of school on the corporate side.

I have been working at Kwik Trip

    Pros

face paced working environment makes time go by fast when the store is busy. there is a healthy mix of good customers and bad customers, and employees need to be ready to deal with both. the year end meetings are truly a sight to behold as a new coworker, and the year end bonus is nice too. hours are usually flexible if properly worked out with the store leader and it is usually pretty easy to switch shifts if something comes up for you or another employee. superior customer service is the theme and employees try and stick with it.

    Cons

promotions every week and dollar days get tiring. employees get sick of it quick.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

cool it with the promotions--not every weekend needs a special deal. its exhausting for the employees
