I worked at Kwik Trip full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

One location I worked at gave me the same schedule that rotated every two weeks. I knew what days I worked ALL the time, thus could plan ahead. How nice this store leader was. Don't expect that anywhere else in this company.

    Cons

Uh, no discounts at this job--none. I also literally threw out "expired food while I couldn't feed myself and family. I was very disheartening. The least this "family owned" company could have done was donate this food to a local food bank--but they didn't.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Work with your team to make your store a cohesive unit. These "store leaders" apparently are not trained this way.

I worked at Kwik Trip part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The salary and benefits are much above average, this company believes that if their employees are happy and cared for then their customers are much better off. Senior management is excellent. The company is very community-oriented and giving. This is a recommended company to work for.

    Cons

There tends to be kind of short breaks but they pay you more so you are expected to work, which necessarily isn't a bad thing.

I have been working at Kwik Trip part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Above average pay
    -Good benefits
    -PTO
-8 hour shifts, with paid breaks
-Chances to earn extra money through position ascension
-Chances to earn extra money through passing periodic performance checks
-Chances to get a share after 5 years of working fulltime
-Can transfer from one store to the next at your convenience
-40% profit sharing, your year end bonus!

    Cons

-Can be very difficult to find replacement worker should you ever experience an emergency that would make it hard to impossible for you to work your own shift.
-ALOT is expected out of you, so if you're not willing to work for that year-end bonus check, don't consider this employer.
-There is room for coworkers to ascend in their shift position, but that can also lead to some people who might not be the best for that job.

I have been working at Kwik Trip full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Kwik Trip is privately owned, and the ownership family believes in putting people first. They have a vision of taking care of their coworkers, and the coworkers taking care of the customers. They are not looking out for themselves but constantly trying to build the business so that they can share more. Competitive wages are supplemented by an unheard of 40% profit sharing plan for every coworker, whether part time of full time. In addition to its retail stores, Kwik Trip owns and operates it own dairy, bakery, commissary, distribution center, and transportations system, creating many options for career advancement. Kwik Trip has never had layoffs in its 45 year history.

    Cons

Kwik Trip is only located in three states - Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa. With a core value of Midwestern work ethic - retail coworkers need to be on their feet and moving during their shifts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep telling the stories of retail coworkers helping customers.

I have been working at Kwik Trip full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Year end cash bonus, 40% profit sharing, career advancement, family ownership, humble owners and caring leaders, meaningful work environment, company contributions to community, employees encouraged to make a difference in the lives of others, opportunities to attend leadership training and improve skills

    Cons

Longer hours in retail management environment but compensated fairly. Hours typical of any retail environment but work/life balance could be challenging at retail management level if leaders are not good at managing time and delegating to team members.

    Pros

Kwik Trip has won many awards for as a great place to work -- and that it is! It is truly a place that lives by it's mission -- to treat others the way you would like to be treated and to make a difference in someone's life.

The leadership, stability of the company and future for this organization is very bright. There are many reasons why turn-over is so low -- it really is a great palce to work.

    Cons

I have no "cons" to share.
