Pros
They give free training and you get paid for it. There was never nothing to do so if your building didn't have a contract for you to work on they would find something for you to do, rather than send you home.
Cons
You had to be at work extra early so that you would have enough time to get to your building because it was so big.
Pros
Great place to work and room for advancement.
Cons
Lots of politics going on.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to the little guys.
Pros
ComCept has good people and a solid product. The middle managers are also good people and allow a flexible schedule. The pay is a bit above normal for an entry level software engineer.
Cons
Recently the company has dived into Agile without sufficiently training the employees. Also, the upcoming defense cuts have many people running scared. While the policies are fairly lenient, beware the wrath of HR if you stray outside of those policies.
Advice to Senior Management
Take the profit cuts and continue to keep up training your employees. Also keep up the IRAD - keep learning new things or die.
Pros
L3 is a good place to work with a professional environment and opportunity for advancement. Training is available to help with job growth.
Cons
Like all large companies that profit from the economies of scale, the required processes can be oppressive to the human spirit.
Advice to Senior Management
Management must not only direct but also facilitate the workforce in order to accomplish the big picture objectives. Also lead by example.
Pros
The work is very interesting and challenging.
Cons
Management galore. Upper management in so out of touch and communication from the top to the bottom is horrific.
Advice to Senior Management
Learn how to manage and communicate
Pros
Paid very well for what little/mundane work we had.
Cons
No room for promotion. Did not offer much opportunity to better yourself I.E. School. Had some decent programs but was very hard to get approved. Medical benefits... well at least I was able to say I had insurance. Wasn't really a benefit... more like an all you can rob buffet.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your employees and try to hire management that can understand English better.
Pros
Solid company great opportunities to learn on your own.
Cons
Testers / Technicians need to understand their role.
Advice to Senior Management
Remove under performing employees.
Pros
Not a hostile environment, keeps building 66-68 degrees so never hot, celebrate Christmas with parties, no uniform, tennis shoes welcome
Cons
expensive healthcare, HR terminates without giving notice to your own supervisor, your health insurance will be terminated without a grace period, you are required to work in severe weather such as flooding or tornadic.
Advice to Senior Management
Provide proof of health insurance costs instead of avoiding it. You claim employees pay 100% and you charge nothing more, so provide that proof, give employees grace period. Have HR communicate with supervisors before terminating employment. After years of employment its shocking to find out employment terminated, insurance cancelled, and supervisors are completely in the dark about it!
Pros
The people are good to work with. Good benefits. Like the 9/80 workweek.
Cons
Small part of a very large corporation. Don't get much visibility
Pros
Good compensation
Good benefits
Opportunity for advancement or to stay in a position
Cons
Communications sometimes delayed between different work locations
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to (and is) working on better inter department communication
