Former Employee – worked at L-3 Communications full-time for more than a year
Pros – Strong presece in the industry. Everyone has hear of L-3 Communications so there is name recognition. Pay was fair for the job. Benefits were good although the division I worked for was not initially on the Shared Services model and has since gone to that model.
Cons – Disconnected feel between the headquarters in New York and divisions of the company in other locations. There was a sense that all L-3 did was buy up other companies and smash them together with other companies, only to pull them apart again a few years later. The division I worked for has since gone through two or three iterations of this type of change.

Former Employee – worked at L-3 Communications full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Close to home, pay. Some good people in the trenches.
Cons – Management is 'good ol boys club'. Most in management are more concerned about what the archaic president wants rather than doing a good job. Corporate wants one thing, the president and former owner wants it HIS way only. HR is a joke. If you have dedication to whatever you do, have integrity and passion this place will destroy you.
Advice to Senior Management – Get your knuckles off the floor and get with the times!!
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at L-3 Communications full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – The people I worked with at Linkabit were outstanding professionally and personaly.
Cons – Management is continually changing focus.
Business persuits dwindled to one or two products resulting in massive layoffs.
Advice to Senior Management – Management should stop pushing so hard to the "Lean" dynamic.
The company has lost it's heart. Good workers won't be loyal if it continues the way it is.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Former Employee – worked at L-3 Communications full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Great benefits, decent pay, some management are good to work for.
Cons – Always wondering if I will be the next during coming layoff. It seems the people they let go of are the most crucial people needed to keep the company prosperous
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend

Current Employee – been working at L-3 Communications full-time for less than a year
Pros – Great company
work/life balance
People are really cool and always there to help if needed
Cons – The work is very mundane
One of the managers is a pain to work with
Moving up in internal audit is going to take forever
Advice to Senior Management – Move that manager to another area, as sometimes it's hard to work with someone who always believes they are correct when they're wrong most of the time
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend

Former Employee – worked at L-3 Communications full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – The office location is nice.
Cons – The proposal develoment position w/L-3 was my worst job ever, by far. The left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. Very little information flows down from management. The hours were long and 9/80 off Fridays were a joke. There are lots of layoffs. If you are an analyst looking for a job, I would keep looking. There are much better employers in San Diego.
Advice to Senior Management – Check academic credentials before hiring staff into college graduate + required positions.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at L-3 Communications full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – good benefits... standard. If you like military settings and the good ole' boy system this is the place for you!
Cons – A lot.
poor management, will not move forward in your career. Its all contract base with DOD so they won't be able to help you in a bad situation. Overall lack of management, too many chiefs and not enough indians.
Pay was considerably low for my industry.
Advice to Senior Management – Get better management
