Great people individually. Truly nice. Terrible as a collective. No sophistication in conducting business in the West.

    I worked at L&T Infotech full-time

    Pros

At an individual level this is bunch of very nice people. The company has been able to retain a handful of long term clients only on the back of committed individual contributors, but has no ability to win new business consistently and what can be defined as "large deals". Much too indulgent of mediocrity. Margins and profitability persist only on account of a handful of existing clients.

    Cons

Command & control culture that is a replica of its Indian parent. Stifles innovation and zero meritocracy. MD and the US Director are relics from a couple of generations ago and have emasculated new leaders who have been brought in but have been reduced to mere salesmen. HR is a millstone around this company's neck and is deeply incompetent and likely corrupt in their recruitment practices. Business front-end teams are individually brilliant but their hands are tied behind their backs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize that the skills involved in building a bridge that takes over a decade to build, in rural India, do not translate well to helping define the technology strategy of a global bank. Move away from the body-shopping mindset and most importantly get rid of the HR leadership. If there is one thing that will immediately change fortunes is getting the US Director and his HR cronies out the door.
