Not a bad job if you need a gym membership

    Sales Counselor (Former Employee)
    Atlanta, GA

ProsYou get to workout for free and the trainers are pretty cool people.

ConsThey require sales background even though none is really needed for the job. They send the new people out to basically promote the location and bring in new business by handing out flyers and "Free Week Membership" cards with your name written on them that can only be used by a customer if they go through a tour and sales pitch from someone at the gym. And even when you do go out and hand out these cards with your name on them when that person comes to the gym if you are not present or do not see them come in then the managers will take the credit for that person rather than letting you know someone you spoke to about coming in is there.

    All about corrupt sales practices.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsYour boss is usually not located at the same location so typically you are not directly micro-managed.

ConsPOLITICS and all the focus is on Sales. They can do no wrong. They can commit fraud and the company could care less..... in fact it is pretty much encouraged by the VP's.

The Kids Klub is extremely dirty and unsanitary

    Babysitter (Former Employee)
    Zionsville, IN

ProsI liked almost all of my co-workers and the hours fit perfectly as an after-school job.

ConsNothing in the Kids Klub was ever sanitized so you would have dozens of slobbery babies' mouths on the same toys day after day.

Advice to Senior ManagementClean up the Kids Klub!

    Absolutely. Not.

    Weekend General Manager (Current Employee)
    Cincinnati, OH

ProsFree gym membership? I don't have 5 pros, I'm just typing this so that it fills the minimum 20 word requirement. There are literally no pros to this company, other than a free gym membership.

ConsThe pay is outrageous(ly bad) for the hours you work, the micro-managing isn't even tolerable at best, the employees have literally no say in their status or future within the company, there is no hesitation to fire an employee for any reason whatsoever (I've personally witnessed it 13+ times in the seven months I've been with the company). This is literally the worst, most shady, most intolerable working environment I have ever been in and I have had at least 6 different jobs in completely different settings.

Advice to Senior ManagementMaybe start caring about the rungs on the ladder who hold your job up. Upper management is an absolute mockery at this company.

    Laid back atmosphere

    Front Desk (Current Employee)
    Bloomfield Hills, MI

ProsIt is a very laid back atmosphere with no much pressure. This position was a front desk position. I was able to set my own general hours and was no stressed out

ConsYou have to make a lot of calls for collection of debts owed to LA fitness. The people do not want to hear from you and are often rude on the phone

Advice to Senior ManagementBe open to new ideas and hear what employees have to say about hours and staff.com

Running after those that don't take care of their own responsibilities.

    Operations Manager (Current Employee)
    San Diego, CA

ProsYou get to meet cool people and get fit.

ConsHigh demand with results with no training, horrible budget and very little pay.

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in your team. Train them, buy them the proper tools to do the job, affordable health benefits, offer a 401k, offer a better pay package for your operations team. Restructure the club Management. Who's in charge of the club and District. When you have 3 different teams it makes it confusing on who to listen to and trust.
