I worked at LA Fitness (UK) full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Full gym membership, and guest privileges.

    Cons

Most managers and VPs have been to prison for drug chargers and violent crimes.
    Extremely unethical sales practices.
Having such high pressure from superiors to make sales and a commission based salary forces good people to follow procedure and LIE to members about sales.
Horrible treatment of employees regarding time worked, time off, sick time, personal days etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A little postivity and honesty can go a long way, appreciate those that are earning your money for you.

I worked at LA Fitness (UK) full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

One on one experience with members looking to accomplish fitness goals. A great place to learn customer service basics.

    Cons

Long hours, awards based solely on results and not effort, extremely over competitive inner company standards

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It is imperative to know that all managers are training similarly and effectively to avoid turnover rates and issuing fault where it is not due.

I have been working at LA Fitness (UK) full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Free Membership and Good work hours

    Cons

Very unstructured in management which creates a conflict between two teams. One which is charged to uphold integrity and rules while the other encouraged to break them. This creates a hostile work place and unaligned objectives.

Breakdown of communication in upper management, unclear priorities, and poor training programs for hirin.g and staffing

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Align your objectives and build a team rather then dividing your staff into two teams that work against each other. A house divided will not stand.

I worked at LA Fitness (UK) (less than a year)

    Pros

Experience in sales that allowed me to progress into a better job.

    Cons

Had I read the reviews (nation-wide) regarding L.A. Fitness' treatment of employees, I would have steered clear. Cold call, door-to-door marketing and sales tactics, chasing people through parking lots to their cars, walking into businesses and trying to secure "x" amount of appointments a day for sales "goals" to be met...was not worth the minimum wage. Being forced to market 2 hours a day, driving your own car around with no reimbursement for mileage or gas to come back empty handed, then to make 100 phone calls to people who complained about being called too many times was such a waste of time.

I was sexually harassed on a daily basis, and was actually told by management to use that to my advantage to get sales and appointments. When sending out mass texts for "specials" from our own phones to get people to come in, I was getting phone calls and sexual texts from people I had never texted in the first place with my number circulating and being followed and watched...even when I would be out to eat and off the clock. "Oh, you're the sexy girl from L.A. Fitness (mid bite of my meal). I've heard about you." (when I had never met or seen these people in my life)

They don't use any money to market and promote- they use the sales reps and pay them less than minimum wage after taxes. The gym was overpopulated, which actually caused people to go elsewhere, but L.A. Fitness just wanted more.

Do yourself a favor, and don't waste your time and energy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember that your foundation is what supports your business...not the belittling and degrading nature of your "guidance."
