I have been working at LA Fitness (UK) full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

-Growing corporation -The ability to interact with people on a daily basis as they change their lives for the better -Learn from those around you on how to better your life from a health and fitness perspective

    Cons

-Long hours & days -Poor benefits package -Non-existent employee reviews and compensation adjustments -Lack of growth opportunity

    Advice to Management

Please put your money hungry views aside, and remember who the lifeblood of your organization is. The poor treatment and verbal abuse of your employees by superiors directly correlate to the unbelievably high turnover rate that your company holds.

    Pros

Flexible hours, you are you own boss, you get to meet interesting people

    Cons

It takes time to break into the industry, starting pay is lower than ideal

    Advice to Management

Understand that trainers have to make a live able wage and drive profit margins, so paying trainers well is the best plan to keep profits up

I worked at LA Fitness (UK) part-time

    Pros

coworkers enjoyable to work with, free gym membership, enjoyed working with clients

    Cons

This company has shady business practices. First, I was called a master trainer even though I was new to personal training. I did very well on my exam and passed on the first try, and I believe I knew the personal training material very well; however, I felt uncomfortable being listed as a master trainer without enough experience. I had clients who seemed to very much enjoy working with me, but the company charges too much to attract enough clients to make a decent living. It also appears that the personal training sales people do not divide up the new clients fairly, but probably keep them for themselves and train them, even though they may not have certifications. Also, the company appears to change how much they charge for both membership and training based on how much they think they can get from each customer. Basically, the company seems shady and needs to charge for personal training based on the financial abilities of the population that resides around each company location. The company's business policies are too rigid and lack integrity.

I have been working at LA Fitness (UK) full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

built in clientele, existing member base

    Cons

lack of professionalism and or experience of (some, not all) management staff. company views top grossing sales, either in membership, personal training, or collections, as grounds for advancement/promotion. GM are top membership sales, PTD are top personal training sales, OM are top collections agents. they are not necessarily skilled managers of people/staff.

    Pros

Good insurance. Great members and staff.

    Cons

LA Fitness takes back commission earned due to member cancellations.

    Advice to Management

Have a better policy in place for taking back commission from hard working, good, people who deserve it.
