I have been working at LANDESK full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

For me the pros include culture, location and talent that I work with

    Cons

Training and product information sharing is little to none (Most is obtained through OJT), middle management is a bit scattered and political while the executive team seems top notch and the career path is winding and unclear. One of the selling points upon my hire was the internal growth opportunities, but the hiring seems t be mostly external or overseas. The internals, as with most companies, leave little to be desired.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value hard working employees, provide better education and training opportunities.

I have been working at LANDESK full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

I have been at this company for several years - I like the work, I love the people and I think it is a pretty good place to work.

    Cons

Compensation is not that great and while there is a career path - it is very long and winding.

I worked at LANDESK full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Relatively high salary right off the bat. Most employees are great to work with. Their product has some good potential. Free snacks.

    Cons

Benefits are blah. Middle management is incompetent and lost in office politics. Training and documentation are non-existent. Career growth opportunities are limited.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at LANDESK full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

MS Windows technology stack fluency goes back decades

    Cons

Forays into newer technology stacks offer great opportunity but associated risk as well

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go 'evergreen' with all software products/services (e.g. management agents). Evergreen in the sense of a self-updating web browser.

Keep diversifying across device/end-point types (from laptops to tablets and phones and on to automobiles, home security, television, smart ovens, etc.)

Was not a good place to work for me

Former Employee - Software Engineer in South Jordan, UT

I worked at LANDESK full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Good programs for employees, good work-life balance (most times), interesting projects

    Cons

Not competitive on salary. Prefer to hire off-shore when possible. Some of upper management has poor leadership skills.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on building teams on-site instead of in China. Directing management over engineers need to learn to work with employees so that they will improve instead of letting them go and hiring in China. Value your employees. The market is competitive for software developers. If you don't treat them well they will go elsewhere and you'll get a bad rep.
