    I worked at LANXESS Global

    Pros

They were very accepting and understanding of a fresh graduate.

    Cons

The business unit was going through reductions and layoffs as I was hired.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Top management was great. She had a great understanding of what each team member was contributing and how the business needed to change to keep pace with the market. Middle management was embedded in their old way of thinking and doing business.

I have been working at LANXESS Global

    Pros

Less than 10 % of employees are overworked (i.e more than 8 hrs/day to accomplish daily tasks). Customer service is the one area where employees put in long hours (>8) per day to accomplish their daily tasks. This is very little travel for employees unless they are part of the next SAP implentation or part of senior management.

    Cons

Wage freezes for 2009 and personnel reductions continuing since 2008. Sales are down and planned production outages are scheduled to compensate during the economic downturn. More and more responsibilites are being moved to the German parent which further reduces security oan moral of US based employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

The work/life balance is the best reason.

    Cons

Poorly structured organization with redundancy and arbitrary job positions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Always run the company as though we were in tough economic times.

I worked at LANXESS Global full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Very progressive. Very apt management and Legal Structure. Very selective in human resources - only top nudge candidates, therefore very large pool of intelligent educated people in each Department / Team.

    Cons

Management not always clear of intentions. Overspending and then unnecessary FTE budgetary cuts. Very slow rates of advancement due to old school hierarchical structure.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Screen not only talent out, but also effective team-players. It is needed for the work inside of the company later.

I worked at LANXESS Global as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

    Decent benefits... nice working hours...

    Cons

stand alone operations, every business unit runs their own show.. not showing as a united front, very linear org.. not much chance for furthering your career from within, training and learning opportunities are next to zero.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend less on unnecessary events and channel the budget for retaining your staff instead
