  1. Interesting work, stressful times with the economy.

I worked at LAS Vegas Hilton full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I really enjoyed the work and learned a lot in the field. The benefits were good. The company provided free parking and employee meals. They also had a Health and Wellness Center for employees to become educated on improving their health and physical fitness.

    Cons

I worked during a very stressful time in the economy. There were hundreds of layoffs, salaries were frozen and employees were required to have one furlough day per week for a few months a year. In addition, the company stopped contributing to retirement accounts.

    Pros

Decent employee dining Room open 24-7, location is close to strip with public transportation on both Paradise and Las Vegas Blvd

    Cons

working with people older than Methuselah, training program consisted of watching some video from the 70's that was laughable and describes the whole experience there

    Advice to Management

Put some people who are past retirement age out to pasture and get some new blood in there so the place doesnt have a Old Folks home look to it and maybe come up with a training program that is more hands on then watching video of some person from the 70's teaching you how to wear a hat = total joke

    Pros

It's extremely laid back. It has thus far survived a major recession that could have killed it, I assume because of it's location next to the Convention Center and its reputation of being a top notch joint. It's a good sign for the future.

    Cons

The upper management obviously do not understand the table game business. They seem to want high rollers to play there but then do everything to run them out. For example; they eliminate the favorable Blackjack rules and drop the max bet limits on all the tables. Plus, they don't comp at all well. I don't get it.

    Advice to Management

Either go after big game (high rollers) by offering better games; 10 X odds craps, Double Deck BJ with favorable rules, Single Zero Wheel and high max limits, or, go after the mid-range players -- close the High Limit Room (or make it into a poker room) and loosen up on comps.

    Pros

free lunch, a revolving door policy, Elvis performed here, Tyler Bryant played here, George Lopez only likes performing here, Reba may perform here again, close to the monorail, classic and old school vegas.

    Cons

management, front desk, maid service, customer complaints, low pay, below average pay, Elvis has been here in 40 years and the hotel shows it, there is no Elvis suite, no reality.

    Advice to Management

pay better wages, lower your take home income and even out everyone elses, don't take 6 figure bonuses when everyone else wont even get over $1,000.
