    Pros

The people can be nice depending on the department. The upper management is incredibly optimistic and are willing to forge into new products and markets. Great benefits and 401K is decent. Core products perform well. Lax dress code. If you do your job, you can work 8:30am-5pm with few problems. The core aspects of your job will probably not change other than who happens to be managing you at that particular time. The commute and highway access is pretty easy.

    Cons

There is very little transparency on the companies finances and performance. The bonus and raise structure are not tied to performance and seem to be handed out arbitrarily. Leadership and vision are not defined. Once you are hired for a role, moving up is nearly impossible unless you stay for a very long time. Long time employees have a sense of entitlement. As with other reviews, there are the haves and the have not's. Some people are put in crucial roles with very little oversight and manage to stay with the company even though performance is sub par and designate most of the work to underlings. There are very few young employees under 35 as many don't stay long after finding out they will not move up and their careers will advance faster elsewhere else. Organizational structure is very top heavy with directors and VP's. Entire departments have been gutted and reworked in recent years. Annual restructuring is an almost certainty.

SWOT analysis needs to improve. They enter crowded markets with inferior product at high price point. Vacation policy is wonky with only 4 personal days for the first year on the job. You have to work for two years to get 2 weeks vacation. Project work is dictated by a select few and can/will get bulldozed through the departments. Importance of marketing efforts are overlooked. Other than first week training, there isn't any effort to develop current employees for other roles.

Overall, if you are just looking to come in for 8 hours a day and do what you're told and never deviate from that formula...this job is for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Accountability for everyone at the company must become a priority to become a world class organization. Company is too big to be run like a family company. Transparency must improve for employee retention to improve. Raises and bonuses must be tied to reviews and personal performance. Company faces the prospect of losing good employees because of employee dissatisfaction and being left out of the loop on everything from business decisions to feedback on projects they've been working on. The company can be great if upper management works together to show good leadership by example and change the culture for the better.

I worked at LBP Manufacturing Inc full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Was an average salary. Work was ok if you got off on time cause of call offs.

    Cons

They outsourced our department without notice. Shows favoritism.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer a new position within the company.

    Pros

    Great customer base.

    Easy access from the interstate.

    Cons

Location leaves much to be desired.

Blatant favoritism is a huge turn off. It is definitely an atmosphere of haves and have nots. If your a have not the treatment you receive is just short of a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Young management, which in many instances could be a pro, but in this case it's a con. There are young managers who have been promoted to their positions only because they are a part of "haves" and are desperately unprepared for the responsibilities they have.

Finger pointing also runs rampant here. Rather than working together to solve a problem, management seems more intent to point blame to save their own behinds.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A good start getting rid of the CEO's sister but still needs a lot of work!! The in your face favoritism and sophomoric antics need to cease in order to make this company a desired place to work. As successful as the company is if the current atmosphere was actually professional the sky would be the limit.

I worked at LBP Manufacturing Inc

    Pros

It's convenient to transportation and the hourly employees are great to work with.

    Cons

Employees work very hard and are not appreciated. Supervisors and Managers are arrogant and paranoid. The supervisors were hired internally and do not have the ability to lead. They try to intimidate the employees.

The Managers are also not experienced and are faking their way and therefore are paranoid. This company is a rumor mill and the Managers believe everything they hear. One manager in particular, lives in the past. He's always bringing up his former work experience just because he is insecure in his present position.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This company would be a good company to work for if they would hire individuals with experience in the industry. This is not a "Food" company as they claim. It is a box packaging and shipping container company.

I have been working at LBP Manufacturing Inc

    Pros

The ability to take time off when needed. Its location is nearby downtown chicago and the commute isn't that bad.

    Cons

Poor management skills. No more for improvement. Everyone micro manages everyone. There is nothing to see around here except for druggies and hookers. Working conditions are not up to par in comparison to real creative service departments. Our OS are out dated and need IT improvement. There is no room creative freedom. Once you're here, you are stuck. Unless you like the taste of butts. Kissing butt, gets you somewhere - sometimes. This town has nothing to offer - food choices are horrible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better pay. Pay better attention to employee's request. More creative freedom.

I have been working at LBP Manufacturing Inc

    Pros

Some of the people are nice and helpful.

    Cons

Lack of growth opportunities. Once your in your position your stuck there.
    Poor job training.
    Favoritism is blatantly shown.
Certain people get to make up and follow their own rules.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just because you have been with the company for a long period of time is no reason to promote people to a "management or director" position. In the event that does happen it's a good idea to actually send said people to a management training class. It should be mandatory that all directors and managers attend a training class once every 2 years.

    Pros

A large and well-known customer base makes it exciting to talk about what the company does.

Management is young (which may also be a con) and has great product and process knowledge.

The company's involvement in charitable organizations is admirable and impressive, as are their strides toward adapting to environmental issues.

LBP provides exciting career opportunities. In my experience, management is open to an individual forging their own success by bringing in results, though apparently, from reading other posts, there are exceptions.

    Cons

The social structure is remniscent of high school, though less tolerable because adults perpetuate the sophmoric behavior... There's a definite sense of the "haves" and "have nots" at LBP. Valuable input is being overlooked simply because the provider of that information hasn't won favor of the "in crowd".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The issues facing LBP management are common fare for corporate America. If I had a solution to propose - - - I'd be rich.
