I have been working at LEGO

    Pros

    -friendly
-Good experience with kids, as well as a fast paced retail environment
-You get to build display sets
    - I work with good people, and my manager is great
    - provides a really good employee discount

    Cons

    - pay could be better, for the retail quality that is expected
    - communication with corporate is good, but could be better
    - people leave their kids in the store unattended, not a company thing (and they've implemented new policies) but is still a con of the job

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

communication is key, think about things that work in actual stores to make them more efficient

I worked at LEGO part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Fun atmosphere, cool job, great discount, also yearly bonus (if store meets goals) and yearly holiday gift and party (which is rare for retail).

    Cons

Almost impossible to move up without moving to another city. And no full time people (maybe at larger stores than mine)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Nothing, you treat employees very well (especially for retail). Thank you! I loved it there and miss it there. I would LOVE to be an ASM but can't move away from here, and this position is not opening any time soon.

I worked at LEGO full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

You get to have fun while you work! All the special event are super fun to work and you get to meet some amazing people on the job.

    Cons

You have to greet every customer with " Who is getting the Lego set today?" It gets really old, really fast. Plus the customers get annoyed with it as well.

Management and the Human Resource dept. pay no attention to numerous complaints regarding the same manager

I have been working at LEGO part-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Co-workers are wonderful and they look out for each other. Constant communication and support is what the merchandising team is all about.

    Cons

Management and the Human Resource dept. pay no attention to numerous complaints regarding the same manager. Management may 'go through the motions' of 'listening' to you. but nothing will be done. It seems like the attitude toward the merchandising team is employees making $10.50 an hour and just packing out product.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Useless gesture leaving any advice for management. This has been going on for years. If a company doesn't conduct exit interviews for merchandisers who leave the company - enough said.

I have been working at LEGO

    Pros

Working there full-time brings you the most benefits -- including simply getting stuff done.

    Cons

Hard to reach main offices in Connecticut and Denmark

  8.

Company cuts merchandising hours but wastes money by sending Christmas gifts to employees who no longer work there.

I worked at LEGO part-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The customer is mostly positive about LEGO products but a constant complaint are the prices charged for sets. This is because managers drive brand new company cars and travel to meetings that could be done on conference calls. Company does not listen to their merchandisers when they tell management to quit sending pop to stores because it is immediately thrown out.

    Cons

Managers are put in positions that they have no idea what their role and responsibilities are. Their employees must tell the managers what they need from them and what the manager should be doing. Managers constantly tell merchandisers why the company is cutting hours and yet managers are driving around in brand new cars.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

LISTEN TO EMPLOYEES!! HAVE EXIT INTERVIEWS FOR THE EMPLOYEES WHO HAVE QUIT. INTERVIEW PAST EMPLOYEES TO FIND OUT WHY THEY QUIT.

I have been working at LEGO

    Pros

Fun for the most part given how much chaos takes place in a given shift between kids and parents and prereens

    Cons

The challenges are trying not to have too much fun as it is a job after all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They have heard plenty of advice over the years, the real question is, do they even pay attention?

    Pros

Fun environment with awesome coworkers. The brand is amazing, I mean it's LEGO!

    Cons

Low pay for the area and management can block promotions. Little work/life balance.

I have been working at LEGO part-time

    Pros

Discount, meeting new people, easy register system

    Cons

Managers, and above, it's a company that pretends to care about their employees but the reality is very different. You have no protection as an employee within the company, and management is not above creating a horrible work environment.

    Negative Outlook
