It's not a bad place to start, or end, but as a middle manager

I worked at LG Chem full-time for more than a year

    Pros

High expectation of employees. Corporate culture is clear and it is encouraged throughout the plant. Hard working people who will help you to learn more. Management tries to keep the employees informed.

    Cons

Bad media exposure, and pressure from the HQ in Korea. Limited knowledge due to lost in translation and inability to speak Korea. Will most likely run in debt for couple years until it is settled completely.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider higher pay for employees, and also be willing to negotiate if they are offered a better salary somewhere else.

    Pros

You can learn lots of things in short time. After 3 years, you will be ready to move to other companies with good work skills and knowledge.
Great medical benefits and nice & hardworking people overall.

    Cons

Salary is way below industry level or competitors
Lack of leadership, strategy and long term vision
Lots of stress working with HQ
    No encouragement for community service

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Be consistent in management strategy
Spend more time and money in retaining good employees, not spending too much money in hiring new people. They will leave soon!

I have been working at LG Chem full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Currently none. With zero production and an indefinite stop of production period, there is nothing positive moving forward with this company.

    Cons

Complete disregard from headquarters in Korea in terms of the effect of their business decisions on American workers. Compensation and bonus increases are promised but not given. Production planning gone wrong keeps the Holland MI facility from producing even a single product while production continues in Korea.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider the effects your decisions make on the people who work for you. When you cut everyone's pay to "share in the company's pain," you should probably be doing the same. Looks like Korean's only look out for their own.

I have been working at LG Chem

    Pros

Battery packs - One of the few growth areas in the automotive industry. Good benefits, hardworking, talented people. Lot of opportunities to broaden your background

    Cons

Not enough resources, salary is below market rates. Company relies too heavily on "contract/temp" resources. Poor planning and lack of proper infrastructure for an automotive supplier.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get serious about hiring the proper people at competitive rates. There is no longer a large surplus of good engineers in the area willing to take a pay cut to work at LG Chem.
