    Pros

    Great pay
    Great benefits
Generally well-managed / well-run company from top to bottom

    Cons

    Fairly stiff corporate culture
    Too many upper managers
Conservative, Republican and Christian values prevalent in culture (perhaps more reflection on region than company)

    Advice to Management

Mostly doing great! IT projects tend to be disastrous, the effects of which are felt far and wide, within and outside the company. IT project management is a wheel that desperately needs reinvented for your company. Also, you should make it a rule for no public/group prayers at dinners, etc. You focus on diversity training for employees, so it should be enforced with religious political correctness as well.

  2. Good place to start.....and move on somewhere else.

    Pros

The company places a tremendous amount of emphasis on safe work practices and health and wellness. There are many opportunities for personal and professional development and technical training. Medical benefits are fantastic. Many salaries, depending on the department, are much higher than those of similar utilities.

    Cons

The biggest con is the abundance of nepotism at the generating facilities as well as the corporate center. It seems that all the extra training and education is offered to employees to placate them instead of cultivate exisiting talent. Simply put, not many promotions unless your a lucky Louisville good ole boy. The company lacks diversity both in the traditional sense and in the sense of diversity of thought, ideas, and of mind. Lots of white, conservative, Christian, rural type folks but generally decent people. It seems the overall company culture is running at least a decade behind the rest of the country.

    Advice to Management

I've observed that management seems to lack perspective on decisions at the operational level. It seems that important information has a tendency to slip through the cracks or get diluted in middle management. I advise working on better, more fluid communication.

    Pros

Good people, excellent benefit, diversified work place. Plenty of opportunities. Management treat you like human beings that you are and do care about you.

    Cons

Don't really have any. However, if I have to pick one I would say that gym should have more showers ;)

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you have been doing.

    Pros

Benefits, pay, and off duty. Work life balance is ok, with the exception of on call.

    Cons

Once you are in the customer service department it is really difficult to get out. This is a job most people see as a "foot in the door" opportunity, but it seems to be a permanent job. You can move up within the call center but in most cases you really don't want to. Requires more on call job duties and A LOT of drama. Insanity is a common feeling as no one in upper management is pro change so everything is always done as it has always been done.

    Advice to Management

Hire managers who are deserving of the position rather than people who have been here the longest. Management struggles greatly in customer service. We work virtually all over the state and the managers refuse to work together. It's like being in the middle of a fighting couple going through a divorce. Everyone wants it there way, and they refuse to see any other side or hear any other options.

    Pros

Pto and benefits. That's about it.

    Cons

Promote people based on how long they've been there despite the fact that those people are not qualified in anyway for that position.

    Advice to Management

Care more about people and leas about politics. Also, discussing politics and religion at work is frowned upon. Stop encouraging it.

    Pros

Great work environment. Very flexible with school schedule

    Cons

Have not learned any real engineering work. Most Co-Ops get stuck doing database work.

    Advice to Management

Train the Co-Ops to be Engineers, not data entry personnel.

    Pros

The benefits are the best you will find within the surrounding area. The management wants to make sure their employees are well taken care of in that area.

    Cons

The company does advance the employees as much as they can. People don't leave the company so there is really no where for some people to advance to. Sometimes if a person only has so much education or experience, they can be stuck in a position for a very long time. There is no growth chance for the person in that way.

    Advice to Management

Listen more to the lower level employees, customer reps, admins, secretaries
