Current Employee – been working at LJA Engineering & Surveying
Pros – LJA has the best stock program out there. They give you approximately 15% of your salary every year for free and normally have one of the better bonus programs in the industry. The company has some pretty decent social functions and retains as a "family atmosphere"
Cons – LJA has one of the weaker vacation/sick programs by combining the two with PTO. There is some stress at work but that is to be expected in the development business,
Advice to Senior Management – The company needs to keep as many of its designers and CAD folks even in these lean times. Experienced people will be needed in the very near future.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend

Former Employee – worked at LJA Engineering & Surveying
Pros – Typicall speaking LJA is very flexible when comes to work schedule. They refuse to implement a half day friday or every other Friday off but outside of that they will work with your schedule.
They have a very generous bonus structure but you have to wait all year to see what it will be. Considering salaries are lower than the norm waiting for your bonus can create a poor work environment inside the company. The bonus helps counter the lower than norm salaries but what happens in year where LJA doesn't do as well. Do their employees take the hit so senior managment still gets their bonus. This year 2008 everyone will find out.
Cons – Management heavily favors certain individuals within the company and it is well known come time for promotions and bonuses. Hard work has very little impact on this structure.
Also, this company is not very well organized. They are not sure if they want to be big or small so the do what benefits senior management.
Senior managment sometimes trusts certain individuals which may not performing in a profficient manner for the company. In other words they should probably do a better job to audit themselves throughout the company to make sure business is operating efficiently
The land developement division is heavily favored over all others.
Advice to Senior Management – Treat people failry and they may stay.
