I have been working at LKQ

    Pros

    Employees are friendly, benefits ok

    Cons

Leadership is out of touch with their employee's needs. Promises of raises, but never happens. They are able to keep individuals pay lower due to classifying employee's with lower paying positions; all the while demanding more work. Only sales and management get bonuses, support staff does not.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Know your employees. Warehouse employees are over worked and under paid, due to poor management practices(see above) . More attention needs to be givn to the back of the house as apposed to the front sales staff. Training should be more hands on, instead of just hoping the new guy "gets it".

    Pros

Nice office and friendly coworkers. Occasional cookouts in the Nashville location.

    Cons

    Benefits are horrible.
Certain IT Managers/Directors are part of the Good Ole Boys club. There should be a divide so that there isnt the feeling of improprieties being taken.
Unprofessional comments from Management and Supervisor's are the norm.
Training is ok but its hard to get.
Promotions are based off of who you go out with for a drink.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Act professional and trust your employees. Dont attend social events with folks who report to you through the chain of command and are two levels below you. It is common knowledge that it happens and is a morale killer. Dont be afraid to stand up for the folks who do a good job and pay them what they are worth. CEO needs to worry more about employees than stock holders!

I worked at LKQ full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

As long as the company keeps growing, there's always something new to learn. Compensation for accountants in Nashville is competitive, even though the benefits are just adequate..

    Cons

More and more, how far you get in the company depends on how popular you are with management.. From personal experience, I would advise against relocating with LKQ should the opportunity arise. Promises of advancement/promotions were made to me before I moved across the country, but I actually got demoted.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promotions should be made on the basis of demonstrated ability.

    Pros

    Modern company
    Young company
    Agressive results company
We have key results that are communicated through all the channels

    Cons

Concentrate a little too much on the stock price, but most if not all public companies do so as well

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just make sure to stay on top of being competitive with salaries so we continue to grow this machine together

    Pros

The benefits are okay. Pay is good depending on what position that you are in within the company.

    Cons

The company is only focused on profits. As I have said this is a descent place to start because it's a unique business model, but not a place to stay. Employees are not respected for their efforts. Overall the focus of the company is going in the wrong direction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I feel that management needs to focus on how to keep valuable employees instead of treating everyone as if they are replaceable. Good people are not easily replaceable and this will come back to bite you at some point.

    Pros

Independence because nobody knows what you do except the two 2 or 3 directly working with you.

    Cons

The management is a joke and at my location they did not enforce the no drug policy for a "supervisor". I quit because management did nothing about this when I brought it up to three different people. There is no structure to daily routine.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Get it together.

    Pros

Potentially a fantastic company. Good business model and in a growth mode.

    Cons

Horrible management structure. No training and no concern for employees at all. This is the worst company I have ever worked for in my life! Constant drama is an understatement. The senior management cares nothing about the employees and they know it. Probably the reason for all the back-stabbing and drama; at least you might get noticed! High salaries to management, who in turn, "lord it over" others to a fault!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to care about your employees! The turnover is absurd due to the disrespect and lack of a training module.

    Pros

Company pays good money and has a very good work environment.

    Cons

Especially as a new employee, targets can be hard to meet especially during peak seasons and for which reason you may be considered not to be very hard-working even when you are doing your best.

    I worked at LKQ full-time

    Pros

    1. Management is knowledgeable about the business.

    2. Work side by side with some great people.

    3. Opportunity to advance.

    4. Decent entry level office jobs

    Cons

    1. Weak leadership with almost no training.

    2. Aggressive/hostile work environment.

    3. OK pay with weak benefits (10 days paid time off total, don't earn benefits unless working for 6 months or more).

    4. Little organization or direction much of the time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is an enormous opportunity for training. Training came in the form of watching a video or reading instructions. Very little rapport to ask questions.
