I worked at LORD Corporation as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

    - Challenging/interesting/rewarding work
    - Interesting products
    - Learning atmosphere
    - Dedicated employees
    - Work/life balance is good - Yet all pitch in to ensure jobs are completed on time and with quality

    Cons

There seem to be a lot of job postings, but once you have applied, there seems to be little if any feedback from HR.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Paint the 'big' picture more so all employees understand who does what and how they individually fit in and create value for the company.

I have been working at LORD Corporation full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Profitable and stable company in a few niche markets with large global presence from Americas to Europe, and Asian Pacific. Very decent company with friendly folks. R & D gets large portion of investment annually. Company treats employee fairly. The company also offers great benefit.

    Cons

A company with long history. This in turn would suffocate innovation in some ways. Most people have worked there very long time (10-20 years). The pay is just OK. Young talents are hard to come by and when they are on board they won't stay there long.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep it up and explore new markets.

I worked at LORD Corporation full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Giving my two weeks notice

    Cons

Lord is seemingly devoid of how anyone else is running companies successfully these days. In my short time here before pleading with my ex-employer to take me back I witnessed the strangest policies and business processes i have ever seen. It is clear these practices are in place to protect the underqulified yes men/women in high places at Lord. Execs married to other execs. Interest free loans handed out to the whos who up top, shady accounting practices, a disasterous HR dept incapable of paying employees correctly or on time. Im not saying publicly traded companies are saints but at least they have some regualtions to listen to this place is nuts!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sell the company! you will never be able to compete once the patent on chemlok is gone!

I worked at LORD Corporation full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Very profitable company in niche markets with large global presence. If you are looking for a nine to five job where your input isn't valued this is the company for you.

    Cons

Executive management is filled with introverts with huge egos. Employee input is not requested or safe to give. Diversity is minimal and kept in ranks with little input. It is part of managements strategy to continue with top down management with followers rather than future leaders.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The leadership issues now extend into the board so don't expect to see any changes going into the future. Consider changes at the top.

I worked at LORD Corporation full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The people, work environment, pay, benefits, and wellness program.

    Cons

They need to work on recruiting new top talent, and appointing the right people into management. Managers should have more experience in their particular field before being promoted, or the repercussions are disastrous.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You're already moving in the right direction. I love this company.

    Pros

Collaborative, innovative. Employees have an open door policy and are very willing to collaborate. I had a fantastic experience while I worked there.

    Cons

May have to relocate to a new location unexpectedly for certain positions. Otherwise I cannot really think of any other issues.

I have been working at LORD Corporation

    Pros

Private Company, very interesting technology, has the potential to lead in future technology markets. Good job performance feedback, open door policy from management to employees. They do show some loyalty to employees.

    Cons

"This is the way we have always done it" attitude. Some in management want to change how others operate to fit their processes instead of adapting to how an industry, as a whole, operates. Sometimes they show too much loyalty to employees to the detriment of team work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to be open to innovation from outside the company and see if it fits inside the company.
