Pros
Friendly atmosphere, supportive management, good health, adoption, and vision benefits, many of the employees have been with the company for 5, 10, 15, 20 or more years which I think speaks volumes about the quality of the workplace. Management periodically conducts employee surveys and actually makes an effort to implement positive changes. This was my first "real" job out of college and I really appreicated my time there. My boss was great and took time to get to know me and was interested in helping me learn and improve.
Cons
Like many companies they are trying to do more with less to save money which can increase the workload. More focus could be put towards improving processes instead of just trying to keep the current ones going.
Pros
Getting better about recognizing achievements. Compensation is fair/reasonable.
Company seems headed in the right direction.
Ability to maintain a work/life balance is very good, usually no issues with taking vacation time.
Cons
Not a name brand, products that I work on are buried in another company's device.
The office is a sea of cubicles, plain and boring.
Company is focused on lowering unnecessary cost, helps the bottom line - but also means no parties or team building events.
Pros
strong tech.; nice people to work with; keep pace with the tech changes; sharpen skill sets all the times;
Cons
job secure is the main concern; the chance to grow is limited; life-work balance, not very good; high pressure all the times
Advice to Senior Management
high level managers in LSI are not thinking about the career development of employees; high level managers are too greedy!
Pros
Work Life Balance
Work on latest technologies
Cons
Not clear about the direction of the company most of the time. Job unsteability . Not much salary growth happens year over year.
Advice to Senior Management
stability
Pros
1.Very challenging and cutting edge technology.
2.Good Salary (Above industry average) .
3.Good knowledge sharing with in team.
Cons
1.Hire and fire policy from upper management .
2.Engneers are hired for one project and remove them without any notice
Advice to Senior Management
Hire and fire policy should be kept out .
Pros
Coworkers are good people
Work life balance is good
I don't have to work there anymore.
Cons
Glass ceiling for promotions in the US/CO.
Continuous Layoffs and outsourcing of US technical staff for over 12 years.
Company has never fully recovered from dot com bust.
Company lacks traction in the marketplace in all but a few areas.
Constant layoffs encourage employees to protect information and expertise.
Resources are always scarce because costs are always being cut and budgets always shrink.
Technical groups reorg about every 18 to 24 months as the company tries to figure out how to make money. This is incredibly disruptive for individual technical contributors.
Generally feels like working at a dying company which makes it difficult to self start.
Advice to Senior Management
Outsourcing is a reality of the marketplace, but you have to take care of the technical staff in the States, too, if you ever hope to succeed. If you can't get traction here and you can't get a solid direction for the company, you should try to prepare it for sale to a larger corporation that can provide a more solid footing.
Pros
There are some experienced guy in company. They are very friendly. I can learn a lot of technical things from them. And the working time is very flexible. I can balance my work and family life very well.
Cons
the communication from management to employee is not enough. Sometime I don't know what's the up level manager's thinking and the product road-map.
Pros
Flexibility, reward, communte, good scheduling, solid methodology.
Cons
Management team have to be restructured.
Advice to Senior Management
Hire the best engineers.
Pros
Niche markets, great and improving products, medium company size, learning and teachings through collaborations within diverse groups, somewhat realistic schedules. People.
Cons
Product ownership and support for the same needs to be carried out all the way through the remotest group involved.
Advice to Senior Management
Maintain focus on collective responsibility of a product to achieve success.
Encourage technical learning for adjacent/advanced topics as much as management ones.
Pros
Very good pay and benefits.
Cons
Executive management will not allow challenges that may impact company risk or future success.
Advice to Senior Management
The stock price and market cap are good gauges for success over the long term. The past 5-6 years would show that decisions made were not respected by the market nor did they add value to shareholders. Admitting this and taking a different direction would be a good decision.
