I worked at LSI full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

excellent location (downtown DC), great past performance qualifications. Good proposal support staff.

    Cons

Do not treat employees fairly, quick to pull the trigger on letting new people go

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give new employees the benefit of the doubt when a less than desirable event takes place on their watch.

I have been working at LSI full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

LSI was good company to work for as they seemed to believe in the "whole" person as to work/life and community involvement.

    Cons

Since Avago purchased LSI, the work/life balance has shifted and the community involvement has come to a screeching halt.

I worked at LSI full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

LSI was well known for being a result oriented work environment. They trusted their employees to get the job done, and meet their deadlines, all while treating them respectfully. They had a flex work environment which balanced the chaos of being a global company with global demands.

    Cons

Benefits have been stripped away. Make sure you ask about them during your interview. Absolutely no telecommuting. The CEO personally sent out a company wide email on the topic. They check who is badging in everyday. Don't be polite or hold the entrance door open for anyone, because then you won't get credit for showing up for work. They do not trust you to work remote. This part is nice, because you won't need to take early morning calls, or late night emails, because it's actually against their policy to do so. You won't be calling China from your home phone, and you won't have a mobile phone to do it either, unless you are on 'the list' to have a company mobile phone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop this behavior. You are losing your top talent in a market where everyone is in high demand. The truth is being communicated externally, and creating a reputation for your leadership team which will be extremely difficult to reverse.

Was a good company - now under foreign management

I worked at LSI full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Was a good, progressive company
    Had telecommuting for all
    Flexible work hours

    Cons

All of the "pros" are gone - administrative support was eliminated and senior management expected to make their own travel arrangements, calendaring, expense vouchers, etc.
Current CEO is from a different culture than American/Western culture - micromanages EVERYTHING, even office supply purchases!
    No telecommuting at all
No investment in research and development

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This Avago management does not care for the LSI employees and is actively ridding itself of all personnel it does not deem necessary. Selling off parts of the company to show a great end of year bottom line for its investors.
