I have been working at LVMH as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of hands-on-experience available for low paying jobs

    Cons

Lack of global direction and too many unskilled and uneducated senior staff.
HR recruitment departments show many instances of employment law and basic working practice crimes.
Threats are made face-to-face and emails, phones and any form of surveillance available is used to capture incriminating information for future usage against employees, suppliers and customers.
Overtime is expected with no pay to demonstrate commitment to LVMH brand. Lunch and break/ holidays are all subject to HR satisfaction.

Former Employee - Senior Marketing Manager in London, England (UK)

I worked at LVMH full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Fantastic brands with emotionally driven employees that execute strategies almost faultlessly. Having worked for a few other companies I can safely say that the reason for these brands being so successful is the commitment of the Marketing teams, efficiency of spend and excellence in hiring external consultancy to find a winning strategy

    Sample sales for sure

Ambition. Once you accept the pay is rubbish and do your job the experience actually becomes very valuable. especially when you leave as you realise they think differently (and often better) than their competitors

    Cons

The pay is low. No point pretending otherwise. My salary after I left was double (and at a similar level to the position I had there). Work can be frenetic and emotionally draining but that is because you care.

A long term career there is undeniably difficult if you are not French. Most of their brands are french though so isnt too hard to see why. In addition the HR teams are less interested in personal development than the development of the brand or business as a whole.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Encourage cross fertilisation of ideas between maisons and brands. Surely there is a lot to learn that isnt because this almost never happens.

Given the challenges of not being French, either teach your staff the language (and stress it's importance) or operate like most other businesses and make English the language you require in order to succed in a global role (unless it is a Chinese or Spanish speaking territory for which the role is responsible)

    Pros

Very nice working environment, beautiful brands you work with, good career opportunities, nice people, amazing staff discounts.

    Cons

In addition to the responsibility you get over some very interesting projects, you also have to do the typical "intern tasks" (of course) which was not a problem but you have to bear this in mind maybe.

    Cons

Employees are exploited, humiliated, abused, women are sexually harassed, salaries go unpaid for months, poverty level hygiene conditions.

    Pros

Small team, much learning, very hands-on

    Cons

    No career opportunities, conservative culture

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create a stronger LVMH-wide network. There is no such thing as an internal (and international) database of all LVMH employees, which makes career movs even more difficult within the group.

    Pros

Great atmosphere, with a very smart and dynamic team. Challenging work, even as an intern! Certainly a great company for a first internship

    Cons

Really not a lot to say. It is honestly a great company. Maybe to much directives comes from the head quarters but I guess it's like that in every listed companies.

    Pros

strong brand name, if you love luxury.

    Cons

the finance management always think about to cut cost, minimize the headcount and maximize productivity, 1 headcount to do 10 ppls works. No one would support and appreciate your works, but they would push you for the result without resources, unfair environment and full of hate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
