Pros
Management does a great job and selecting candidates to create a great working team.
Cons
The occasional unpleasant client, which is to be expected in retail.
Advice to Senior Management
keep up the good work.
Pros
Enhances customer experience, service, learn to communicate ability to multi-tasks, energy and the products are great.
Cons
Not easy to get promotions if you are a small volume no matter the amount of years you are there
Advice to Senior Management
Celebrate success not only with high volume stores who achieved target but also low volume store who struggle. At the end of the day we all put our 100% and would love to be acknowledged for our hard work and effort.
Pros
Good discount
Good staff in store
Great customers
Cons
The most senior staff at LaSenza treated store employees poorly. Once the company was taken over by Victoria Secret, it became a miserable place to work. Quality went down, treatment of staff went down and they started closing profitable blocks of the company like LaSenza Girl, Silk & Satin, etc.
Employees had to pay for their own Christmas party or choose not to have one.
Advice to Senior Management
Store manager is amazing, acknowledges staff accomplishments and efforts. DM never visits the store, but calls to yell at you if sales aren't above targets. Now they are closing many stores they say are poor performance stores, however it's just a way to make room for VS to move into those areas with no competition. Instead of promoting the people who really aren't working hard or learning their jobs, you could try treating the employees who work their tails of a chance to advance with in the company.
Pros
- you get paid for being there.
- beautiful storefront
- nice displays
- beautiful products to sell to people.
Cons
- got stuck doing the junky jobs (which I don't mind, I just wish it was shared amongst more people)
- promotions given to those who are close to sr. management
- literally, i was fired after 2 weeks because "everyone came to the general consensus that you don't fit in here" - because I didn't stand around and gossip.
- I moved on to better - you can too! Don't get a job here! Getting fired was one of the best things that happened!
- back room is messy and unorganized, at least in the store I worked in.
Advice to Senior Management
I didn't really stay long but you should encourage your managers to keep quality employees who are good salespeople. Make random surprise visits! I think that every retailer should do this on a fairly regular basis.
Pros
you get to try on all the new lingeriee and gowns!! its fun working there cuz u get to see lots of customers with different backgrouds!
Cons
i used to hate mopping the floor so much when i was there!! hanging bras and underwears wont that fun!
Advice to Senior Management
Dont have much to say about this ! Guess they just have to try to be less stuck up lol !
Pros
discount
fun merch to sell
great and friendly part time staff
Cons
management team irrational
demands are too high expected to work long wknds always
no coaching what so ever
fairness is non existent
pressure on bottom feeders for sales target
Advice to Senior Management
lets be fair to everyone, not just who you favour or like also get out of the back room and show some leadership
Pros
One of the best reasons was the discounts that you received on the merchandise.
Cons
management was poorly run lack of leadership
Pros
-The staff discount
-Great sales associates
Cons
-Disrespectful conduct towards employees.
-Out of control gossip.
-Unrealistic expectations of sales associates.
-Senior management is rewarded for catty, demeaning behaviour.
-Zero attainable incentives.
-No room for advancement.
Advice to Senior Management
Give employees with the experience and education needed to do the job basic human dignity. Do not consistently reward those who fuel gossip and degrade their staff. Allow management staff the opportunity to work towards attainable goals and recognize their achievements.
Pros
- management trusts their employees
- flexible with taking time off/ work life balance ( but this depends on your department)
- good first job/ reputable company
Cons
- no stability, constantly laying off their people- multiple mass layoffs within a single year
- poor pay
- poor communication between departments
- the company is in transition
- Top management does not appreciate employees
Advice to Senior Management
Stop hiring employees to lay them off a few months later. Make your employees feel appreciated and give them security in their roles. Your employees are your most valuable asset, but you allow them to feel insecure and do not hesitate to let them go. People have worked very hard to make La Senza what it is today- 99% of those people have been layed off. You are losing what made la senza special in the first place.
Pros
flexible schedule - works around school
easy job - nothing too complicated
no experience necessary
Cons
low wages
little opportunity for advancement -- often hires out instead of promoting within
understaffed
Advice to Senior Management
management seems to be unsure of what direction to take the company in and the constant overhauls and changes and lack of support for employees has truly created a poor working environment
