Pros
Labcorp has excellent benefits. It is also a good place to go after graduation to get "medical" experience. They pay differential for night shifts too.
Cons
It is sometimes hard when there is a lot of turn over and it can bring down morale. They have been affected by the economy as well these past years.
Advice to Senior Management
Have more face time with employees. Incent people to help one another. Provide more frequent and constructive feedback and praise. The budget is not affected by giving out "thank you's" and they go a long way!
Pros
Its a large company with branches all over the United States. Advancement opportunities are available and you are constantly learning new things.
Cons
In order to get promoted be prepared to kiss butt and step on everyone's toes. People are not very personable and in many cases you won't find 'people' people in a lab. Extremely wasteful company, they need someone to focus on lean processes and restructure the daily functions to allow for a 'greener' more sustainable company future. Getting time off is like pulling teeth from a shark using a tweezers.
Advice to Senior Management
Ease up a bit on your employees, I understand that this is an FDA regulated laboratory, but its too tense around there.
Pros
The health benefits are wery good. First year employees can earn up to a hundred and forty hours of payed time off.
Cons
There is very little opportunity to move up in the company. Management doesn't recognize or seek out skills in its employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Try to recognize that your employees have more to offer than just production. There are a lot of very smart people with a lot of great ideas that are not being utilized.
Pros
Able to transfer out of state
Cons
having to work all shifts
Advice to Senior Management
need more communication
Pros
short drive to work, minimal weekend work. Opportunity for career growth. My boss was absolutely the best boss that I have ever had.
Cons
Long hours for minimum pay. No overtime available. No payment for extra hours. No training on a regular basis. To much workload
Advice to Senior Management
Allow workers a flexible work day to be able to come in at different hours and leave at different times.
Pros
Benefits are ok. A national company so there is room for change if you needed it.
Cons
It's so large that you can feel like a number not a person.
Pros
LabCorp offers an opportunity for growth within the company. Salary is competitive and the managerial staff is excellent. The benefits package is above par and employees are often complemented on a job well done.
Cons
To work within LabCorp, one must be able to work independently. Supervisors have high expectations of employees and do require that the regulations of the facility and department to be followed to the letter. For most, these particular things are not a con, however, to those that require a more hands on supervisor, it certainly may be.
Advice to Senior Management
With the management that I have come into contact with I have found no issue. I admire my supervisor and feel as if I can rely on her to provide me with the information I need to improve my performance.
Pros
Pay is mediocre at best
Cons
Where do I begin..We are consistently under staffed and over worked. There is consistent daily feedback of what we are all doing wrong, however nothing is ever said about what we do correctly. The morale stinks among employees. Most of the employees are seeking employment elsewhere due to our job dissatisfaction. When puting in for a transfer to a different shift/position you will not be considered. They will always hire from the outside, so dont bother. Just consider yourself married to whatever shift/position you were brought in on. Dont even bother with HR, they are the most impersonal rude group of Human Resource Reps I have ever encountered. Save yourself, and keep hunting for another job!
Advice to Senior Management
Get it together! Treat your employees like they matter!
Pros
Company has great benefits. Has good sites to work at and will take care of it's employees that show initiative. Compared to other labs, I feel that Labcorp is the best to work for.
Cons
No chance for advancement unless you are in the click. Pay raises are from time to time frozen. If you leave with a notice and years of service; expect not to get hired back on. I have filled out hundreds of applications over the past two years and have not been re-hired. Again, you really will have to be in a click, or know someone; I know many, but this one person I feel is keeping my application from being seen.
Advice to Senior Management
Your employees that left with good standing and many weeks of a notice, were assets to your company and should be rehired if a location is applied to. We would not apply to these locations if we felt that we could not travel to them. Great employees are hard to come by and really should be given an opportunity to come back to the company.
Pros
Flexible schedule and time off
Praise for work well done
Always have had excellent supervisors
Great vacation/sick time program (lumped together so sick can be used as vacation for people who don't call in all the time)
Cons
Lack of opportunity in branch locations
No motivation to keep existing employees (you are replaceable)
Pay for exisitng employees is substandard especially in promotional circumstances (would rather pay someone outside a great deal more)
Benefits are expensive (you will pay the allowed amount for an office visit rather than a small copay until your deductible is met)
Advice to Senior Management
It is imperative to maintain employee satisfaction. Employees need to feel secure/respected/appreciated. The company should hold on to the good employees instead of making them feel expendable. You need great employees to make a great company. I think the company is making some significant and well-needed changes with regards to the LEAN program, however I also feel there has been some overkill with standardization. For example, laying off loyal employees to turn around and relocate those positions to NC for a tax break is not the ideal way to show your employees you care.
