    I worked at Labatt

    Pros

Great start out of college. Comfortable place to call home. Management is very friendly and accomodating. Most upper management have been with the company over 10 years. Most of the professional employee base are young in the low to mid 20s but are a selection of intelligent individuals. Plenty of room to be creative with your position and present new and interesting ideas to be considered realistically by management.

    Cons

Low training opportunities. Software and systems are out of date and unused in large business. Advancement potential is slightly lower because most managers have been there for a very long time. A Pro in the sense that people stay, a con in the sense of advancement... However, the managers now were advanced at some point as well. Biggest concern is the desire to grow the company. Labatt is below average industry growth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They treat employees wonderfully. All senior managers are very approachable and helpful.

I have been working at Labatt full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Casual atmosphere
    Incredibly smart people
You are close to top execs & company strategy everyday
Small team means little red tape
Can have fast advancement if you show result
Chance to really own your own projects - given lots of responsibility
    Meritocracy
Good perks & contacts in industry
    Great industry

    Cons

    Extremely heavy workload - 70+ hours/week
    Cheap company, bad IT
    Low retention amongst employees
    low pay vs industry
    lots of people 'managing up'
Intense environment can bring out the worst in people
Too much time spent on protecting your budget and process
Tough environment if you fall out of favour with a senior exec

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pay needs to move up
Care about employee work/life - no need for bells & whistles like yoga class posters, actually respect workloads and don't intentionally leave vacancies open just to hit a salary budget number
Senior management needs to consider employee morale & stress level when changing their minds every 30 seconds

    Pros

Benefits are good. Good bunch of people that care about the business. Some room for improvement.

    Cons

No work life balance. Bonus structure is a joke. Pay is not good....can easily make 12-15k more elsewhere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Culture is terrible.....you can thank Brazil for that.

    Pros

The industry and the people who are working there.
    The free beer
    Job on the road

    Cons

Objective are too difficult, seniors want competition between salesman.
Bad salary, you do a lot of overtime not paid.
Very bad work condition and work-life balance.
Lot of heavy thing to carry like a lot of beer cases ( 300 to 1200 cases / day)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They are lying about a lo of things.
They haves a do what I say and not I what I do theory, like they do a lot of bad things and illegal things but they want us to be perfect.
They are fake, they said you gonna grow up fast in the company but nobody make it or they said you gonna have a promotion and you don't.

I have been working at Labatt full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great place for young people, to learn and be exposed to higher levels of responsibility. Good training ground if you can put up with the endless expectations from your superiors. Great rewards but only once you reach director level.

    Cons

You are pretty much on your own to navigate yourself through this career maze if you are not a GMT or an expat (mostly Brazilians). People who can drive to get things done, no matter what the consequence, are valued. Very short sighted with zbb targets which drive wrong behaviour. Numbers drive everything however people in charge of those numbers don't have the experience or depth of knowledge to understand what the numbers mean. 80% accurate is considered ok and this lack of thorough assessment permeates through the organisation. Little investment in people (outside of GMTs). Project management is non-existent as evident by history of failed orpartially successful projects. Focus again is make the numbers look good.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Long term does not mean 3 years.
