Current Employee – been working at Labor Ready
Pros – As a manager, I am given more than sufficient training in employment, sales and coaching. They are very concerned about doing things ethically. Doing the right thing is real for them. It's not just an image thing. Time off and benefits are great,, Medical for me is $52 every two weeks before subtracting a $250 credit for taking an annual physical. They treat managers well.
Cons – I have the experience and ability to do a job 2 paygrades higher than I am. I thought I should "get in the door" prove myself and advance. Wrong. You must put in years at your present position before advancement possibilities exist. Sales stategy is too vague. Need to sharpen it to the company/goal and conduct real world training to the branch Managers. Minimum Sales impact would be double digit increases.
Advice to Senior Management – In this economy there is a lot of talent available. Much of the upper management was "Battlefield promoted" when times were better. They have an opportunity to load talent and let go of those less able to do the job. They are well positioned within an industry ready to explode.

Former Employee – worked at Labor Ready
Pros – Compensation, benefits and bonus structure.....work it like you own it attitude. It is what you make of it financially. You have the opportunity to really do well financially and move up in the company if that is what your goal is. I worked with a great group internally and luckily my "employees" were a pretty great group as well.
Cons – Obvious issues...usually the criminal backgrounds of the majority (not all) of the daily workers. Driving some of these employees in your own vehicle to get them to job sites (especially if you are a female, driving multiple men around locally and longer distances). Safety can be an issue or concern.
Advice to Senior Management – Tied in with above statement. I feel that to get some of these employees to job sites on the company dime; transporation vehicle/driver should be available and not the Branch Managers/CSR's. Safety of internal staff needs to be better protected.

Former Employee – worked at Labor Ready
Pros – If you are looking for a stressful but rewarding job then Labor Ready is the right place for you. Great pay and benefits. Always room for advancement.
Cons – Very stressful environment when dealing with some of the temporary workers and customer service towards customers who are not satisfied. Not a good place to work if you do not enjoy sales.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep up the good work that you are all doing and continue to show your employees that you appreciate what they do for you.

Current Employee – been working at Labor Ready
Pros – Always above board when dealing with me, or with my feedback on contractors we sub for. Actually, I think that's the best "pro" in working with them; they hold the temp employers/contractors accountable.
Cons – It is a temp labor-staffing organization, so it's not shangri-la, but they seem to treat their employees with dignity.
Advice to Senior Management – They know their job; I do not know what else to add.

Current Employee – been working at Labor Ready
Pros – Short of working in an ER or as a fireman or police officer there is probably not a job out there where you can see the impact of your efforts. The people that register in your branch look to you every day to help them pay their bills and feed their families.
Cons – Be prepared mentally and emotionally for negativity. Many businesses are struggling to keep their doors open, so they may not be open to the possibility that your service will take even more money out of their pockets (actually you'll most likely be saving them time, money and effort). Also, in many markets business people are inundated with salespeople pushing their wares and services, so be prepared for that negativity also.
Advice to Senior Management – Do a better job preparing new Branch Managers. Two to three weeks in a training branch isn't enough. Each district should have new managers ride out with the successful BMs in the area to learn how its done in the local market, on top of any time spent with the District Manager.

Current Employee – been working at Labor Ready
Pros – They are growing and accepting the need to change, strategize, and explore it's potential. Ideas are welcome and the culture is friendly.
Cons – Bonus structure lacks the compensation level appropriate for performing branch managers and CSR's. We have a tough time keeping talent.

Current Employee – been working at Labor Ready
Pros – Does not hold your past employment history or criminal background against you.
Cons – Minimum wage. Have to call in each week before 5 AM to obtain job ticket for that day
Advice to Senior Management – Create a system where people don't have to call in at 5 AM for a job that starts at 8:30.

Former Employee – worked at Labor Ready full-time for less than a year
Pros – Working for Labor Ready was good for quick cash if you couldn't find any other work.
You can find try different tasks to see what kind of work interests you.
A person can acquire different skills to make themselves marketable.
Flexibility in work schedule if you are looking for something permanent or retired.
Cons – The employee is always going to be paid minimum wage even if the person is a skilled employee. The employee had to show up an hour to two hours early to see if they were going to have work for the day. If you drive 15 to 30 miles daily you lost money due to the gas if there was no job for you. You would work 8 hours that day, then having to show up at the office and wait another hour to get paid. There were no benefits and the person working there was always going to live in poverty.
Advice to Senior Management – Treat your employees like assets, not parasites. Appreciate the employee for taking time out of their lives to earn you revenue. Have sympathy for these people because they are only trying to put food on the tables.
