    Pros

Great people in my area of the firm, some interesting approaches to the changing attorney/client relationship, work life balance was good and they really do care for people as people. Great client base and interesting work opportunities. They have a great law student program which is well run and gives value to students.

    Cons

Senior partner management is divided, salaries are very low and benefit costs are high, firm systems are old fashioned and largely in-house. I only received a bonus one year I was there (the bonus structure was not transparent) and never received a formal review.

    Advice to Management

People talk about the Ladas revolving door - to stop this, there needs to be a career path available, development opportunities and a better salary base or good people will come, be trained at Ladas and then have to move in and give those skills to other firms.

    Pros

If you have been working in the IP industry, you know that Ladas was, for many years, considered a well-respected firm. Times have changed and this firm has not kept up. Having this firm on your resume will not damage your prospects at finding another job, but don't expect it to help much either.

    Cons

In a nutshell: - lack of technology and lack of ability by attorneys to use basic technology. - this place heavily caters to a man's world. women are not respected. - negative environment. - client overbilling. - mismanagement between offices. - politics among partners are tense and dramatic. - staff are underpaid. for decades.

    Advice to Management

If you get rid of dead weight and upgrade EVERYTHING in the office, maybe you'll have a chance at remaining competitive.

    Pros

The few pros like flex time don't compare to the major career damaging negatives.

    Cons

Don't jump on an offer from Ladas even in this still uncertain economy. Better to wait than put this black mark on your resume because it smacks of desperation and will haunt your career.

    Advice to Management

What does it say that over the years all the reviews are so negative? So what's the point.

    Pros

There is work to be completed. The work is varied and the subject matter at times can be challenging and fun.

    Cons

Where to begin? They do not know how to handle their associates. They often don't "get" how to work with their associates to maximize their abilities, but rather have idealistic notions as to what to hold their associates to which ultimately ends badly.

    Advice to Management

Try to understand and remember what it was like to be an associate and not have your head far up your arse.

    Pros

To learn the way patent and trademark prosecution works and to gain experience that will be helpful in the future.

    Cons

Salary is at the lower-end of the market. Benefits do not even compare with some of the benefits of other firms. Workload increases but compensation does not. Too many layoffs.

    Advice to Management

Learn to listen better and recognize top efforts.
