    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Lafarge North America full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The pay is decent Safety is key Optional advancements when available Stable and steady work load (in-season)

    Cons

-Terrible Health insurance (almost equivalent to NO INSURANCE). Hi deductibles, poor coverage. -Lack of proper management -Lafarge tries to implement "Courage to Care", but it's more about the money. They pretend to care about their employees but they only care about the top dollar. It's no secret, if we can get a dangerous job done safely in 5 days versus 4 days "unsafely", they would choose the 4 day method. - At times we have been forced to work 16-18 hours a day, then we would be expected to be back to work after only 3 hours off. -Machinery is minimal. (If one breaks down, forget about it) There is no back up plan.

    Advice to Management

-Start treating your employees like they are human beings. -Give us better health care. After all, we pay for it. This is the worst coverage ever. -We are the blood of your company. We are on the front line, fixing and making sure everything runs and operates so the the plants can run. Treat us like it. -Implement changes FASTER. -Bonus Structure??? Safety and/or production. What happened? It's a nice incentive to receive a quarterly or annual safety bonus. At least it would help offset some of the terrible Health costs. -Be honest about where the future of our company is headed. We have families too.

    Pros

Great place to not actually have to work. If you are looking for a place of employment that so greatly resembles the movie "Office Space" you have found it. Management screws up and gets promoted, or certain members of management aren't even included in the little click and have no responsibility but pull down serious salary, thanks to dad being a retired share holder. To get promoted here you need not do a day of actual work! Simply find the right employee who is in the "click" (you will be able to tell, as these employee's simply walk around doing nothing at all and talking to the other "click" managers doing nothing) and SUCK UP with all you have. There you have it! Follow this career course at Lafarge and you can be President of Lafarge in no time.

    Cons

Management, Human Resources, decision/responsibility lack of balance.

    Advice to Management

    Find a real job.
