    Pros

Very supportive of employee development. Huge career opportunities for people that do not mind relocation every 3 years, and are willing to consider international assignments.

    Cons

Organization sometimes experiences analysis paralysis, and mico-management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Executive management dont be afraid to empower your midlevel and front line managers to direct themselves and make decisions. Lafarge has great values and great people with world class development and education. Trust them.

I worked at Lafarge full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Used to offer amazing international assignments and potential for career advancement. It is still an opportunity as soon as the market picks back up.

    Cons

CEO (BL) is only focused on managing financials for the current quarter. There is absolutely no vision for the future and strategy is sacrificed to get back the credit rating that was lost. The last 4 years here were only focused on cash savings, cash savings, cash savings...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You can focus on the future while not forgetting the current objectives (many companies do it every day)

    I worked at Lafarge

    Pros

The benefits and compensation are better than average. Development opportunities are available, but you need to pursue them.

    Cons

Lafarge is a very male dominated company. Good if you're "one of the guys". Not so good if you're not.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep working to break up the good ole boy network. Progress has been made to focus on diversity, but lots of work still to be done.

I worked at Lafarge full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Lafarge in the UAE was an exciting place to be. As with most every large company, there are downsides to being so big, but there are also upsides--such as training and development, many benefits, and the chance to interact with smart people everywhere.
I joined while the company was still in the start-up phase in the UAE, the management team was very supportive and it created an immediate sense of belonging.. to the Lafarge family.

    Cons

    Long procedures before decision making!
Lack of middle management communication channels.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    More interaction with shop-floor.
Review cost cutting strategies (expenses of main office vs. sites.)
