I worked at Lafayette Parish School System as a contractor for less than a year
Pros – Sadly, nothing, and I've seriously tried to think up something positive.
Cons – Lack of support and lack of structure - the student population and the administration were so incompatible with each other. I had no resources. I was isolated in a T building with not enough desks or space for all my students who did things like rip up the walls without repercussions. I genuinely felt unsafe in the workplace, and genuinely, nobody cared.
Advice to Senior Management – When over half a dozen teachers quit in the middle of a semester, that should be your wake up call that something is very wrong with your school.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

I worked at Lafayette Parish School System full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Rich heritage, university town, wealthy families. Lafayette could be the BEST school system in the state. Large population with very low unemployment should bring a high tax base with the best teachers in the state.
Cons – Incompetent, good old boys network. The last string of superintendents have made Lafayette Parish a laughing stock. The first pushed us back into a desegregation lawsuit that costs multi-millions to get out of. Next one put in yes men all over the parish, then had his contract bought out. Next one was a good old boy that hired all retired people to come back to the system. The one now is getting his friends from New Orleans who don't have high school diplomas to be "supervisors". . Check it out, its all true.
Advice to Senior Management – Quit and get qualified people to run the school system
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
