    Pros

You get to pick your own schedule. You choose when you want to work, as long as you follow the requirements. The staff are super friendly, and are always willing to help.

    Cons

The job itself is hard, but it is expected when you're walking into the Medical world. Days might seem longer because you are constantly on your feet all day long, breaks are short and patients are constantly calling you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The job is tough, so maybe being more lenient about taking time-off will be nice.

More like a poorly run circus.

    Pros

Benefits are okay, and there is usually plenty of time-off

    Cons

Bad training, bad management, unfair treatment, disability discrimination, favoritism, NOT A CLEAN HOSPITAL!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice to upper management is as follows:
    1. Housekeeping needs to do a better job. EVERYWHERE. This place is supposed to be a CLEAN and SAFE hospital. Right now, it's absolutely disgusting.
    2. Better training needs to take place. I have worked here for ten years, and the training was much better when I first began. This causes a lot of the newer employees to make numerous mistakes, which is very bad for patient care/satisfaction.
    3. Managers and Supervisors should all have Psychiatric evaluations before they're allowed to manage or supervise anyone.
    4. Employees all need to be trained in common courtesy. A good majority of staff are very rude to patients and colleagues, alike.
    5. Managers/Supervisors need to be more aware of the Americans with Disabilities act. For a long time, I was bullied into working at a desk that impaired my work, and worsened my disability. I had to go over the Manager's head and speak to the head of my department and quote legal text to be allowed to work at a handicapped desk. It's appalling that I had to endure this while working in a HOSPITAL. People should be more compassionate and understanding here, being in the medical field.

    Pros

Pay, Hours, Benefits, and & Scheduling

    Cons

Extremely poor communication made it extremely difficult to know which building to be at for which time. Information delivered on paper via mail stated different dates and times I was initially told. A total mess. Extremely unprofessional.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Follow through with new hires. Making sure information is not "clear enough" but crystal clear.

    Pros

A lot of earned time, easy to transfer within institution

    Cons

It takes 8 years to get on site parking. That is not an exaggeration. A lot of shady management games are played here. Senior leadership sends out surveys and then negative responses are tallied and employees are punished. Poor communication from management on policy changes. Nurses constantly complaining that they are overworked when most of them sit in the break room all day only coming out for med passes. Nursing assistants are treated cruelly. People love pointing the finger at this place. They always want to find out who is at fault when something goes wrong. Your health insurance only allows you to seek care in the Lahey Health system. This place is filthy! Downright disgusting. Housekeeping should be ashamed. The Maintenance dept doesn't keep up with anything. If you put in a request to have something fixed, the maintenance guy will spend 20 minutes telling you why he doesn't need to fix it rather than just fixing it.

This hospital does not provide good patient care. You are just a number. A patient is a dollar sign. An available bed is money lost. They will cram you into hallways to be seen if they must.

They do not care about employees or patients. They just want a body to treat and another body to take care of it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your new lobby renovation project is going to be a waste if you do not enforce cleaning and upkeep of the area. Take a look at the hanging lights above the front desk lobby. Gross. Hcahps scores are in the toilet because that place is disgustingly filthy!

Look at your middle management team. Seriously, they have no idea what they are doing.

Don't tell us we aren't getting raises this year and then follow up that email with 12 others on the amazing new VPs, Chief of literally any things, and directors you've just hired. It's insulting.

Your employees are not nearly as stupid as you'd like to believe.

    Pros

Pay is decent, possibility for advancement if you can tolerate your job, don't fire easily

    Cons

I worked in the Orthopedic Department which felt more like planned parenthood. Poor elderly patients left alone on gurney's in the hallway unattended, long waits, lines like a bank when checking in and out, front desk people on personal calls while patient's waiting to be checked in also yelling at their kids on the phone while patients can hear. Office manager would do nothing about inappropriate behavior and unprofessional behavior. New hires beware if you follow the rules...older staff has their own that office manager is totally unaware of. HIGH TURNOVER and you are expected to come in even in snow storms.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try putting more effort into hiring quality front desk and secretarial staff without attitude and tacky behavior. Offer better on the floor training. Oh, and don't spread rumor of employees that have given their proper two week notice while they are still there (Office Manager)

    Pros

The employees and patients are great.

    Cons

    Everyone is not treated fairly

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Giving employees surveys is a important part of being a good manager. Actually following up and making changes make a great manager. Stop being out of touch with what is going on in your own departments.

    Pros

Your co-workers are amazing and are very knowledgeable. You are able to learn how to draw blood when working in specimen processing.

    Cons

The managers in the lab make your life MISERABLE! If they changed the managers, it would not be as bad. The med lab tech's immediate manager is Nancy. She not only doesn't know anything about the work being done, she micromanages and picks on people for minute, insignificant things. She is lazy and ill-equipped to run specimen processing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hie new managers- preferably ones that do not have an ego complex!
