I have been working at Lam Research full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Overall, Lam is a very solid company with great systems and processes to make sure things function properly. Job security is pretty good, based on performing your normal 40 hours a week at an adequate level.

    Cons

    - Politics in some departments, along with new management from a recent merger (within past 2 years), makes receiving anything above and beyond your base salary and company profit sharing a thing of the past. - To get the attention of new management, you need to work 60+ hours a week. Just not sustainable for most married people with families. - Attrition is growing based on new compensation policies, and along with that workloads are increasing.

    Advice to Management

Go back to compensation policies of pre-Novellus merger. Your workforce is in high-demand and will your losing them to companies that appreciate them better.

I worked at Lam Research (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I was able to move up in Lam with some efforts on my part. At 1st I was in the Training Department then got the opportunity to move over to tech support in Engineering. Enjoyed the travel and support while assigned and eventually move up to Engineering Manager in Tech Support.

    Cons

Travel was a bit much and after some big dips in the industry had to take on lower jobs. I was never able to recover and certain Managers were not truthful and basically deceitful. This was not the hole company as I still enjoyed my time. Was let go while on the road. Should have been brought home as I had to go through trying to get back home and I had the question of will I be paid to go home. HR helped out and got me home with the pay for the days after layoff. Manger at that point did not have my respect.

    Advice to Management

Be honest and make sure employees are taken care of. These are the people that will ensure the company continues to grow.
