Pros – Working for a good cause with good people to work with

Cons – Low pay, management is not always in touch with staff needs

Advice to Senior Management – Appreciate the hard work of staff members. Everyone is replaceable but the hard work we have contributed over the years is not.

Pros – If you are passionate about GLBT equality and issues and are willing to work with little supervision, it is an excellent atmosphere.

Cons – Because their offices are spread out across the country, weekly staff meetings (read: conference calls) are required. Information is repeated and time is wasted.

Advice to Senior Management – A better process needs to be in place for communication. There are a lot of inefficiencies that, if remedied, would lead to greater efficacy.

Pros – Noble mission and well-intentioned people in the lower ranks.

Cons – Failure to follow through on the broader mission at the highest levels of the organization.

Advice to Senior Management – It's way past time for you to retire or move on. The desperation with which you cling to power that few consider you fully qualified for or worthy of will be long-remembered to the detriment of your reputation. Cut your losses. Let a new generation come in.
