I worked at Land Transport Authority

    Pros

Family oriented culture with good staff welfare activites, recreational, d&d..

Good benefits based on stat board pay scheme

Friendly people everywhere who are willing to help

Good working environment, with own spacious cubicle, staff canteen and lounge with facilities like gym, pool table and ktv, and green environment with ponds and flowers ard

    Cons

Follow statboard pay grade, bonus and increment
    Certain certification are not recognised
No staff rejoin policy in place?
Long approval process from one level to the next, just to approve expenditure.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hope the HR team will review candidate's resume based on merit and achievements, not based on degree certificate that are not recognised. Not all local degree.candidates are street smart or able to produce good results, there are good ones out there who can make a difference too and are more than willing to serve your organisation.

I have been working at Land Transport Authority

Good benefits (18 days Annual leave, 2 days parental care leave, $500 flexible benefits/ yr, $120/mth in EZ-Link for transport)
    Work life balance.
    High starting salary.

    Cons

No cert therefore needs time to climb the rank.

I worked at Land Transport Authority as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Stable job with rather fixed hours
Good company benefits like training and facilities

    Cons

Given the size, a significant amount of departments and politics
    Only Scholars are given focus

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work on work-life balance and company values. Some re-organisation of departments / divisions (e.g. breaking up / merging some departments / divisions) might help, instead of just transferring them between Groups.

Not a good place for 1st job

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

I worked at Land Transport Authority

    Pros

Good pay, bonus and annual leave
Relaxing. Lots of free time and coffee break

    Cons

Slow learning curve as you are in the client side. Many things are already done for you. No job satisfaction. Reporting of the same issues for different type of meetings. Basically just wait to get your pay. If you enjoy such life it's a very good place

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Retain the experience staffs and acknowledge their contribution. Especially for lower rank staffs

Not a good place for career advancement for mothers with young children

I have been working at Land Transport Authority full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Generally good leave and benefits when compared to private sector

    Cons

Despite having structured family friendly practices, eg childcare leave, telecommuting opportunities (restricted to once a week), fairly flexi hours, the punishing work load means that you are expected to still deliver the same amount of work by making it up with working weekends and even leave days. Very stressful for mothers in mid management who need to balance between taking care of young babies and coping with a huge workload. Senior management does not appreciate the problems and stress that young mothers face. Performance scores are also non forgiving towards mothers who have take maternity leave, reason given was 'to be fair to others who did not have this maternity leave'. Really don't understand why this is so especially in a government organization in Singapore when govt is trying to encourage mums to have more babies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase manpower resources to cope with punishing work load. Do not discriminate young mothers with lower performance scores just because they took maternity leave.
