I worked at Landrum Staffing as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

It was a job and you got a weekly paycheck

    Cons

Almost everything they offer is temp work. Usually lasting 6 to 12 months tops and then you are gone and back at trying to find a job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on acquiring more temp to hire positions.

I have been working at Landrum Staffing as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

Job placement can be quick (for some).
Pay is somewhat high for the Pensacola area.

    Cons

    - Staffs only for grueling, labor-intensive jobs which people usually wouldn't want to work.
    - Lack of transparency in regard to what the jobs entail as well as the work environment. One thing I learned, "has AC" constitutes to having little to none at all.
    - Staffs quickly so they can obtain their commission. This is their sole purpose and life-blood.
    - Does an abysmal job of skills-to-job matching, hence, the previous two above.
    - Because they hire based on simply filling positions so they can get revenue through kickbacks, they pick whoever they can to fill positions quickly. You'd be surprised by the characters of people you will work with.
    - Layoff's are guaranteed but they don't tell you how it works. They may be based on seasonal, annual, or depend on the companies production/profits.
    - Recruiters mislead incumbents by telling them that they have potential for getting hired full-time; what they don't reinforce is that there is a clear separation between a "temp-to-hire" position versus "temporary (only)." Since they primarily hire for temporary only, they create a false optimism by telling you that you could potentially be hired on permanently.
    - Recruiters do NOT tell you that by state law, companies must hire you after working temporary with the contracting company for a year. Because most of the positions they offer are temporary only, the trick around this that they play is to lay-off employees before a year of contracted employment. This way, you remain temporary.
    - Hire for jobs that require a minimum of 1 year experience. None of the jobs I've worked yet should - at all - require any experience. 1.) You get trained anyway; 2.) Landrum hires for unskilled labor; 3.) These positions have high turnover rates so it begs to ask why they are the slightest bit picky?
    - Recruiters pressure you to take their job offers even when it's something you've expressed a lack of interest in.
    - If you refuse to take a job offer, they may not call you back... EVER. I seen this happen to my father after he turned down horrendous job offers which he was ridiculously over-qualified for and they offered a laughable $/hr rates. Not only that, once you're in the loop with Landrum, you'll hear lots of stories from people who knew people that worked with Landrum and this seems to be the way things work.
    - Once they hire you into one field, good luck getting out. In other words, if you have an business/administrative background like myself and take an offer in manufacturing/production, you'll never get offered anything outside of manufacturing/production.
    - Reporting injuries will prevent you from getting hired for future contracts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Rethink your business philosophy and hire new recruiters who understand people better.
You guys think about your bottom line before thinking about helping people's professional careers. Realize that some people want to gain the experience rather than just getting paid.
Be transparent about the Landrum lifestyle.
