I worked at Lands' End full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Loved working for lands end, great engagement with higher ups, always positive attitudes, training was amazing. They gave appreciation whether you store was up or down in sales.

    Cons

Down side working with sears people, they never understood lands end was a life style and always tried to push us to be like them, which was miserable.

I worked at Lands' End full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I loved working for Lands' End. The people are professional but personable. Upper management looks to promote from within, and they are always grooming staff for advancement. Also, Lands' End provides superior customer service, and the home office and call center (because it is an online and catalog business as well) were very supportive in anything I needed at a store level to satisfy my customers. I learned a lot about retail and visual merchandising working for Lands' End, and I absolutely love the brand, so of course that contributed to the pride I took in my job there.

    Cons

Due to Lands' End's association with Sears there were a lot of dotted lines in who I reported to, as well as corporate disagreements that trickled down to the store level and effected my staff's and my job.

    Advice to Management

Keep supporting your in-store staff, and improve communication on how decisions made on a corporate level will effect your managers and sales consultants.

I worked at Lands' End part-time

    Pros

Friendly and courteous coworkers. Nice atmosphere

    Cons

Full time offered sparingly. Paid time off accrues very slowly

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like you treat your closest relative.

I have been working at Lands' End full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Really great team members and people at Lands' End. I totally feel part of a group that cares about my individual success/growth as well as aligning to business objectives. Good quality of life...yes, work is high speed, and changes happen, but that keeps it exciting and allows for growth. Great work out facility, onsite health care, backup child care, causal dress code and food on site. Still has some of the community feel, while being a larger corporation.

    Cons

Drive to Dodgeville is a bit lengthy...but beautiful. A little bit "corporate", but that's not unusual. High pressure to be successful (sign of growth).

    Advice to Management

Remember how we got here....a lot of trust, honesty, and transparency from management is critical. Keep a continued focus on Quality, Value and Service.

I worked at Lands' End full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

If you want part-time work, the immediate benefits may well suit you: fitness center, employee discount, etc. For the area, compensation is not bad, but you can spend years there before you "qualify" to get full-time work and, therefore, their benefits plan. This is for the hoi polloi, of course, as some positions are walk-in full-time positions.

    Cons

Duplicity is the modus operandi now, but it was not always so. Lands' End was a great place to work, but the new motto of "the beatings will continue until morale improves" is quickly rubbing off the newly-pasted smile that veils their thin veneer of friendliness.

I have been working at Lands' End part-time

    Pros

The clothing is classic and fashion forward and you can outfit your entire family. We have a nice clientele and they love the brand. Best swimsuits anywhere.

    Cons

Even though we are no longer owned by Sears, the Sears culture is there. Have not had a raise in the 7 years I've worked there. 20% discount not that great. Excellent customer service is no longer a priority. It's all about selling...we have to track every sale & return. DM leads by intimidation & bullying.

    Advice to Management

Show appreciation of your employees by better pay & discount.
