I worked at Lanier Technical College as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

The access to current software and hardware was great. Again, the opportunity to learn is as vast as your willingness to work for it. I was willing to work very hard and got a lot of experience from this internship.

    Cons

Somewhat unorganized and the staff seemed overwhelmed with all of their responsibilities. They were very knowledgable but sometimes scattered with how they handled jobs.

The salary for the state instructors is not equal across other jobs with the same title at other technical colleges.

I have been working at Lanier Technical College part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The advantages are that they are pretty flexible with schedules and allow the teachers to lead as they should and not just be told what they have to do.

    Cons

The disadvantages is that sometimes there is state political agendas that affect promotions or hiring.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get teacher's salaries up to equal with the other technical colleges even for the part time staff as well. Value your great employees and stop promoting trouble makers just to move them around and out of your dept. Stop being old school and pull up to the current status of technology and services to be more relevant to today's student population and workforce needs. Evaluate your staff regularly.

    Neutral Outlook
