Cons
People who are close to Top Management Get Noticed and are able into invariably Influence their Decisions. Good work may not always be recognised/rewarded. Needs keep up with the market with regards to Pay.
Advice to Senior Management
Start a 5 Day week with Flexi Time. Start a more fair & democratic 270 degree feedback system.
Pros
L&T gives a lot of freedom to work. Good ideas are always encouraged. The projects are always challenging and would keep you busy. The learning is tremendous.
Cons
Archaic HR practices. Require to sign a service undertaking (bond) if you're sent abroad on work for even a short duration. 5½ day work week which is very inefficient.

you can learn a lot within very short time. managers are very smart compared to other companies. they have a organized system with good training facilities. lateral movement is possible. extremely diversified high technology

bad work ethics. managers are too proud and keep distance from junior staff. vertical hierarchy and red tapeism. at times need to work much beyond work hours at no overtime.
Advice to Senior Management
please build a horizontal structure. the pay difference is enormous between managers and executives. need more fun culture than demanding work schedule. avoid the red-tapeism and mutual jealousies.

L&T is a great place to learn, especially if its in the initial stages of your career. It being a large multinational there are loads of impressive project going on simultaneously and with the people there being very easy to approach, there is great opportunity to learn whats happening in the advancements of technology.
Cons
Very long work hours and very hectic work schedule; plus no appropriate compensation for the work. The work-money ratio is not properly balanced. I have heard many people who are on the lower levels of management complaining of the work hours and pay; with many other competitor companies paying nearly double of what L&T pays for nearly half of the work load. It seems to be a good place to just spend a few starting career years there.
Advice to Senior Management
There is lot of politics thats runs up in the higher management, and since L&T usually signs a 2 year contract and keep the employees bound for 2 years with a very low pay, it does not become a very appealing place to work. Removing the bond and a more impressive compensation would do a lot of good.

Great place for learning where one gets adequate opportunity to take initative in business matters and exposure to progressovely important projetcs.
Cons
Laterals are not given equal opportunity and are always side tracked in favor of career L&Tites. HR policies are poor.
Advice to Senior Management
My advice to the board is to be less greedy where each memeber gets more than 2 Million USD a year, while a rung below are at one tenth thar remuneration and junior and middle management barely scrapping the bottom of the barrel.
