I have been working at Laura Mercier Cosmetics as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

The salary is very good. As an hourly pay i get 21.50. Which for a freelancer is very generous. Once I was offered a "large basket of products" as an incentive to take a shift that no one else could take. I was unavailable that day however.

    Cons

No Gratis, Sometimes you get little to no hours for long periods of time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management in this company has been 50/50 for me. I have interacted with some amazing very pro active managers and others are a let down.

I worked at Laura Mercier Cosmetics

    Pros

Typical celebrate most working Holidays - such as Halloween, Valentines, Easter by doing some sort of employee appreciation. Clean, Beautiful office. Summer Hours.

    Cons

Management lack ability to be consistent and fair to all employees. High turnover in Finance due to inconsistencies and lack of appreciation. Favoritism runs deep. Be careful who you trust as they are likely to stab you in the back to get ahead. If you aren't part of the clique - beware. Might as well look for employment else where as they will make your working career there miserable.

I worked at Laura Mercier Cosmetics full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Co-workers make coming to work tolerable;, summer Fridays, and extra days off throughout the year.

    Cons

Where do I begin? Inexperienced, unprofessional and unethical condescending management team. Job functions are chaotic and disorganized. The pay is unsatisfactory and does not match the workload and title given. There is no training, self improvement courses, tuition reimbursement programs, or growth potential within the company. Favoritism trends through the halls and offices. The entire company and HR is a joke and runs on a fluke. There is HIGH turnover for a reason. They're reluctant to instill positive change despite employee feedback, turnover and financials. Your voice and ideas will not be heard if you choose to work here. Do not be swayed by the illusion you will be working for a glamorous "industry leading" cosmetic company; it is anything but that. It's more like "industry misleading". You've been warned!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your staff. There is ridiculously HIGH turnover for a reason! It doesn't take a genius to figure that out. Also, you should invest in training your employees; they are the integral pieces of the entire operation and help pay your nice salary!

I worked at Laura Mercier Cosmetics

    Pros

The people that work at this company are professional, warm, and amazing.

    Cons

The company has endured continuous supply chain and products problems. This has alienated their loyal clientele.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fix these issues. Become current with your pay scale to make it competitive with the industry.

I worked at Laura Mercier Cosmetics as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

They have competitive freelance pay, no strict uniform code, and really great products. The culture of the company is awesome and they have a great management team that has been there for a long time.

    Cons

As with any cosmetics job, there is a lot of standing for long periods of time, and difficult customers.. however, that has nothing to do with the employer. Laura Mercier could use a few more educators and maybe a makeup and product bootcamp of sorts. However, I'd say that most cosmetics brands are in this boat.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More room for growth on the educator side would be great!

I worked at Laura Mercier Cosmetics full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Supports Makeup Artistry, launches new colour collections monthly. Quality of the colour aspect (shadows & lip colours) are beauitful as well as the tinted moisturizer.

    Cons

Territory Managers are unorganized. Account Managers are disinterested. No gratis program for free-lance artists and counter / in store artists have RARELY received them. Skin care is not worth the money. Management is more concerned with and give more support to larger stores, which is a given, but smaller stores are on the bottom of the list. There is a lack of communication between terr. mgrs. and staff in the retail stores regarding info on products and techniques (unless you are with a larger store) . Training program needs to be tightened up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more in touch with ALL Artists. Bring back the gratis program and raise the $ amount of it. It may be the lowest and most infrequent in the industry. Act and be more of a premiere cosmetic line that you should be.

I worked at Laura Mercier Cosmetics part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Laura Mercier is still one of the few cosmetic companies that celebrates artistry, and doesnt dwell too heavily on stats and numbers. They will book you frequently, as long as you are consistently requested by counters and staff.

    Cons

The are disorganized, can sometimes take a while to process invoices, and have no real opportunities for internal growth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

organize your field staff better. While it is apporeciated that there is not excessive paper work for artists, there is also no clear way to distinguish top producers other than being an AE's favorite.

I worked at Laura Mercier Cosmetics as an intern

    Pros

The London office is absolutely amazing, you will meet national and international artists and company executives. The permanent team are so friendly and personable and the office has such an inviting atmosphere.

    Cons

There is always 101 things to do which simply means you really have to work hard because by the time you finish a task, two more would arrive. however its in no way gruelling or backbreaking

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you do, you guys are the best!!
