I worked at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The compensation was fair, the staff was great, and the supervisors were well selected.

    Cons

    A lot of union bickering.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management needs to have a better handle on what is deemed "necessary."

I worked at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Compassionate Physicians and Nurses. Multiple specialties. Small town community feel with large city services.

    Cons

Main Hospital infrastructure is old and outdated. Some departments have been remodeled and have state of the art equipment where other departments are outdated and need updating. Nurses and general Hospital staff can improve on their level of professionalism.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in areas that need to be updated. example: better EMR system instead of multiple systems, updated wings and rooms, reward staff and employees that exhibit high levels of professionalism, lead by example.

I worked at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Their orientation program is fun, thorough, and compressed into one day (a great idea)

    Cons

Some of the paperwork with Employee Health was difficult; it seemed that not everyone in that department understands the importance of good communication, efficiency, or pride of place

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not let a single employee's work go unnoticed; even short-term hires. Your briefest acknowledgement, and a word of support, means so much.
