Pros
- Competitive compensation for twincities area
- flexible work environment (ability to work from home at least one day a week)
- good relationship with business partners
Cons
- internal promotion within finance is rare
- senior management disconnected from the masses
Pros
The work was challenging. There was a strong sense of teamwork.
Cons
The economic downturn hit the company for some time
Advice to Senior Management
Keep the culture
Pros
good work\life balance with a good company heritage. Excellent product line. Competent but not agressive management team. Geographically undesireable location
Cons
Company is not agressive at all in its marketing efforts. Could not execute on a focus 3 year plan. Continual shift in priorities
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on the plan. Hold people responsible for meeting the plan which was not done during my tenure. Accountability starts at the top
Pros
It provides a good work /life balance.
Not a lot of internal cumbersome processes.
Cons
There are no real advancement paths in field positions
Pros
The People were innovative and it was a great environment
Cons
The product would go to market too soon, clients would take delivery before it is ready but I suspect that is common in Software
Advice to Senior Management
Thank you for the good years
Pros
Lawson treats its employees fairly.
Cons
Lawson struggles sometimes with their employee training model.. but they are working on improving it...
Pros
It's a tech company and they are interested in doing innovative things. They have a lot of room to grow.
Cons
Could be said to be becoming a more 'sales-driven' company than a 'product-driven' company. Depending on your perspective, this could be a pro or con.
Pros
Very relational environment
Good work-life balance
Benefits are good
Financial performance of the company is good --but this is at a high expense
Opportunity to expand and grow as you see necessary
Cons
Highly political environment
Many employees with 10-20 years of tenure --makes it difficult to move past a lot of things
Company is managed quarter to quarter rather than by what is best for the long term
Employee morale is generally low
Management in 2010 & 2011 was highly focused on financials rather than making necessary investments
Advice to Senior Management
Make decisions based on data. Consider shifting some of the old guard on and focusing on what the future could offer rather than problems from the past.
Pros
workers are still the best asset
Cons
distrust of senior mgmt
lack of information
internal processes not getting any better
Advice to Senior Management
be more honest
walk the walk, not just talk
Pros
Great, GREAT team of people. Helpful. Know when to laugh and when to hunker down and work. I'd miss them if I left co.
Cons
Beginning to doubl/trust senior management's ability to make solid, data-based decisions.
Way too many people talking. Are we wishy-washy? Too MN Nice?
Advice to Senior Management
Remember that the people you have working for you may have opinions, too, and be very good at what they do. Don't always look outside co. for your "advice."
