Pros
- Competitive compensation for twincities area
- flexible work environment (ability to work from home at least one day a week)
- good relationship with business partners
Cons
- internal promotion within finance is rare
- senior management disconnected from the masses
Pros
The work was challenging. There was a strong sense of teamwork.
Cons
The economic downturn hit the company for some time
Advice to Senior Management
Keep the culture
Pros
good work\life balance with a good company heritage. Excellent product line. Competent but not agressive management team. Geographically undesireable location
Cons
Company is not agressive at all in its marketing efforts. Could not execute on a focus 3 year plan. Continual shift in priorities
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on the plan. Hold people responsible for meeting the plan which was not done during my tenure. Accountability starts at the top
Pros
If you are a highly motivated individual and enjoy interacting with new clients, learning new industries, and working with others at a fast pace, then Lawson is the place for you.
Cons
If you are not a self-starter and highly organized, you will be challenged at Lawson. Emloyee and managers rarely have one on ones, so if you are new to consulting, this could be a challenge. It is up to the employee to pilot their career at Lawson.
Pros
Lots of ability to move around the organization and good quality people
Cons
Since Infor has acquired it is a much smaller company but Infor is prepared to grow the S3 and M3 business and seems to take care of their customers
Pros
It provides a good work /life balance.
Not a lot of internal cumbersome processes.
Cons
There are no real advancement paths in field positions
Pros
Location. Provides products that organizations really need. Market leadership.
Cons
Small enough enough to be growing, hungry and viable. Large enough to not see employee training and job growth needs.
Just acquired by Infor (July 2011).
Pros
Collaboration, support from management, benefits, competitive salary
Cons
Investment in infrastructure, too many changes over last 5 years
Advice to Senior Management
Look for the hidden talent in the company; keep the innovators
Pros
work environment, benefits, flexible work schedule, coworkers
Cons
Some work groups are siloed, need more open cross-functional communication.
Advice to Senior Management
Thanks.
Pros
Many great people, good pay and decent benefits (at least prior to the acquisition), opportunities to telecommute, and a good location in downtown St. Paul.
Cons
Senior management has not been overly successful creating, communicating, and championing a coherent vision within the company. Also, Lawson was recently acquired by a company with a reputation for focusing on maximizing shareholder profit, rather than value for customers.
Advice to Senior Management
HD, I hope your shiny new gold parachute provides you with a smooth landing onto the golf course, as you wouldn't want to hurt your arm and screw up your swing. Meanwhile, don't worry about the rest of the laid off rank and file, I'm sure everyone will be able to find another job before forclosure and hunger set in. Classy parting comments, tool.
