Wonderful. I only left because my position ended after budget cuts.

    I worked at LeClair Ryan

    Pros

Flexible, easygoing/fairly relaxed for a corporate environment. Executive leadership - very down to Earth (see Cons for middle management review).

    Cons

Extreme nepotism! Pay does not match the workload. Although Executive leadership is nice, middle management seems to have a chip on shoulder; that's probably due to the extreme nepotism in this place. They are likely getting passed over for advancement opportunities as well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize all employees' efforts, work harder to boost morale.

I worked at LeClair Ryan full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The company places emphasis on teamwork. Various practice groups. Reimbursement for college education was a plus.

    Cons

Bottom line over employees. Some of the upper management could use some serious people skills - not always friendly (people I saw everyday would pass by without speaking even when spoken to). Otherwise, don't really have too much to say about the company other than I would not want to work there again.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on your people skills and show your appreciation for your administrative staff on occasions other than Administrative Staff Appreciation Week.

I have been working at LeClair Ryan full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Diverse groups of practice nationwide

    Cons

Management and leadership has room for improvement. Lack of clear direction and firm goals. Disjointed - its a bunch of smaller firms using the same letterhead.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leadership needs to focus on firm infrastructure (i.e. invest in staff, new technology, collaborative training and cross training). As it is, the firm is losing talent to better firms that offer more.

I worked at LeClair Ryan full-time

    Pros

Very hardworking staff, as well as dedicated, loyal and friendly.

    Cons

Very top heavy on management... in other words, too many bosses and not enough folks that actually do the work. Management is also very sensitive, ego driven, and touchy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your employees more. You will benefit from this - and so will they... finally.

    Pros

Strong leadership. Diverse practice areas and client base. Collegial working environment.

    Cons

Large bureaucracy from an overall firm-wide perspective. However, I have heard from colleagues in other offices that this is less so in some of the smaller satellite offices located across the country.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay focused on the needs of all employees, not simply those of the officers, shareholders and senior partners.

I have been working at LeClair Ryan full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Very flexible work schedule including lots of opportunity to work from home. Fair salaries. Culture in Richmond HQ office is fun and collegial.

    Cons

Little to no communication from senior management to the "worker bees". Too much "fat" at the middle management level. Takes an act of Congress before a poor worker will be terminated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please emphasize communication on all levels of the firm and continue recent efforts to curb wasteful spending.

    Positive Outlook
